As Budget deliberations continue, the Hartford Police Department has found a way to supplement their fleet, courtesy of a drug dealer.
Unlike other Hummers featured previously on this blog, I'm sure this one is properly registered.

So, how much does it cost to insure this Hummer and buy replacement parts to properly maintain it??? WTF??? The city should sell it at auction and make money off of it.
What was the cost to have it detailed/painted with the HPD logos?
Incredibly stupid! 5 miles to the gallon and useless for any real law enforcement. Sure it was seized but the paint job, upkeep and gas bills will go straight to the tax payers. Another very bad decision from a city that is not capable of doing anything right.
I doubt this will be a patrol vehicle. Might be utilized by SWAT team on occasion or for public relations events. Does HPD even have public relations events???
I bet they won't sell it but will end up in some officers control who is tied into city hall.
Just for laughs you should call Nancy Mulroy AND Sarah Barr and see if you can find out the official "use" of this vehicle. Wanna bet they each tell you something different?
Good for HPD! Chief Roberts told me personally that this vehicle will be used as public relations and that the decals and lights were done "on the house" courtesy of Whelen in Chester,CT. A cool vehicle like this will let the community know that the police are their friends. So, stop complaining about the taxes and the gas. Life is not all about money.
