  2. Hartford is done. Lived here 30 years, once loved it, but have had it. My South End neighborhood is not safe for the first time in 20 years(gang days) and there is NO quality of life for those of us who work hard and follow the rules.

Last night I had a family party for my son who was accepted to Grad school this fall. Sadly, so did my neighbors who hired a DJ for a kids birthday party and blasted music for 6 straight hours in our direction. It was window rattling and unbearably loud, making conversation impossible. We and several of our neighbors called the cops at least 10 times. Finally Sgt Miller of the Hartford PD called back and told us that an officer had stopped by earlier and asked them to turn it down, but that "it was the first nice day and a kids birthday party" and that he "didn't want to come down to hard on them." So According to the police it was perfectly okay for them to ruin our party, which we had planned for months, spent a lot of money on and really looked forward to. Of course as soon as the cops left they cranked it up again. Noise Ordinance! what a joke. What is wrong with this city? My other son works for the NYPD and he was blown away by the Sgts remarks. What can I do? Call everyone on the dysfunctional city council? Call the Mayor who's under arrest? Call the police chief who's under Eddie's thumb? I guess there's nothing left to do but walk away from our house that we've owned for 30 years, take a loss and get out of Hartford. I feel completely beaten down and defeated today which I guess is what the powers that be, want. Beat us into silence and submission while the police ignore us and and the Councils raises our taxes yet again.

  3. Noise? People are dying and you're talking about noise. You live in a City get over the noise and do something to stop the dying.

  6. To anonymous #1 I can tell (YOU) don't live in Hartford.I have for most of my life until several years ago. The crime is out of control as WELL as the quality of life issues.Shit I could deal with the murders most of it was scumbags killing each other anyway, what I couldnt stand was to be able to sit on my own porch and relax or going to bed, without some asshole blowing his car horn, speeding up the street at 60mph,neighbors dog barking 24 hrs a day,or the loud music from a Boom box at 10,000 decibels all hours of the friggin night.Lighten up on the lady while you rest easy in your cozy SIMSBURY home!!
