A SIGN OF THE TIMES?

Now that we have a new Superintendent of Schools starting in Hartford, hopefully there will be a focus on the basics. Maybe we can concentrate on the little things that make a difference, like proper spelling.

The sign above is at Noah Webster School on Whitney Street. The proper spelling for more than one bus is "buses".

Don't we pay supervisors to catch things like this?

  1. Kevin, instead of running for office, maybe you should be a spelling teacher?! Take a look at your title for your latest post "Stike up the band". Those who live in glass houses... just a hint!

  2. Sorry Kevin, while "buses" is considered proper, both are correct.

  3. "Buses" is the correct plural of bus.

"Busses" means "kisses" (an old-fashioned term).

Are you really surprised......The city currently operates like a road runner cartoon. Maybe we should use a magic 8 ball to make important decisions for now on.....

  9. It's a shovel-ready stimulus.

Obama says spending=stimulus. "Busses" includes extra letter, more $ for sign manufacturer, more aggregate demand, larger GDP...

And, "buses" does look funny; should rhyme with "fuses."
