HARTFORD POLICE PREPARING FOR BODY CAM USE

Axon Police Body Camera

The Hartford Police Department is preparing for the use of Police Bodycams beginning Monday, February 4th. HPD will be rolling out the new Axon Bodycams  to patrol and other uniformed officers on the 4th. Although the actual policy governing the usage of the cameras is still being developed, it is expected to be completed in time  for the camera use.

The state of the art units from Axon will be the culmination of a long term process and one of the priorities of Chief David Rosado since he took office last year.

Dash cams for all Patrol vehicles will be phased in as Stage 2 of the process, as new vehicles are outfitted and equipped for the HPD Fleet. Phase 2 is expected to begin in April or May of 2019

The body cameras  will download recorded video once they are placed in the docking/charging stations at Police Headquarters and it is anticipated that cruiser cams will download their video once they park in the lot at Police Headquarters.

As new Tasers are replaced for Officers, they are also expected to be incorporated into the system to automatically begin recording on body cams and cruiser cams whenever they are unholstered, the recording will be triggered on any camera in a roughly 60 foot radius for numerous video angles.

The units will record and store both audio and video of incidents for storage

  1. Would love to hear Chris Lyons input on this in todays society the good ole days of policing are officially done if they fired Sergeant Barone for what he said some of these cops in serious trouble

  2. I've read several articles on the use of Body Cams, seems to be a win-win situation.

  3. Wrong 98% of cops are exonerated from body cams. Even the ACLU is back tracking on there use. Everyone is under the impression from the liberal media that most cops are bad. Wrong again. Like any profession there's a few bad apples but nothing like the common person is lead to believe. Now citizens will also be accountable and the courts will get to see what cops deal with on a daily basis and how they go out of their way to work with people before actually arresting them. Just like they did for the trumpet guy who is now claiming racism. Be careful what you wish for Hartford, you will see. Mark my words, the body cams will stop being a priority once city council starts seeing it helps cops far more than citizens.

  5. 10:04 Nice call on the ACLU being checked by their own demands. Let’s see some reality. Will the footage ever see the light of day? Cops with myth busters, I love it. Don’t drink your own Kool-aid people.

  6. The idiots in the chiefs complex should have to wear them also, so that when they are having their shady meetings, you can record how they come up with plans on how to harass and retaliate against the whistle blowers that are tired of their shit! Keep making up new policies to mess with the officers, you will all find out who actually run this PD real soon.

  7. This is bad news for the Hartford Fire Department !!!! What are all those shitbags (Sutherland etc.)gonna do when they DESERVEDLY get pulled over????? NO RACE CARD TO PULL OUTTA YOUR ASS THEN!!! We’ll also get a crystal clear picture how they speak to and treat white officers while “complying” to their requests. We won’t need to watch the national shows like Cops or Live PD anymore, there’ll be a treasure trove of people RIGHT HERE IN OUR COMMUNITY willing and able to entertain us. Time to stock up on popcorn! Too bad we missed out on ”footage” of A$$HOLES like Denise Nappier who falsely called profiling the night a WHITE female officer ( Jill Kidik, who’s gonna question her professionalism ??? Not me) The body cam would have shown Jill’s BLACK backup officer right next to her.Of course SHITBAG Emory Hightower threw Jill under the bus ,,,,I wonder if Hightower being black is just a coincidence ??? I wonder if Hightower knows Denise Nappier??? My daddy always told me “all good things don’t last forever”.
