HPD BODY CAM VIDEO OF PRISONER ASSAULT

LT. Paul Cicero, Booking Commander at the time of the Assault
Hartford Police Chief Jason Thody

A partial, highly edited video of HPD Sergeant James Guzie assaulting a female prisoner. The video contains foul language and the edited version ends right at the time Sergeant Guzie punches the female prisoner. According to the arrest warrant, he then draggted her into a cell by her hair after punching her. Many more questions to be answered on this, such as why the delay in any action by Chief Thody and where is the rest of the video as well as the Internal Security camera video

  1. Why has HPD for so long allowed officers to have visible swastika tattoos! This is not a random example.

  2. Oh my goddess can cops take some classes on dealing with prisoners ? The guy at the desk made it so much worse -and does he really have a swastika tatoo ? Just stop !

  3. I-spy the Internal Affairs Commander at 4:47 seconds into the video.

  4. So she commits a class c felony, Assault on Police, using bodily fluids during covid, just moments after she threatens them. They push her to the ground and she takes one strike to her face while getting her down. Guess cops aren't allowed to defend themselves in modern America.

If he did drag her around by her hair, as you claim, then I will agree with you about the force being unreasonable. I find that hard to believe, seeing her hair was so short.

And Kevin, what the hell does the Lt have to do with anything? Was he even there? If he's somehow responsible for this just because he's the supervisor then with that dumb logic so is the chief and his boss the Mayor.

  5. the Lieutenant has everything to do with the area that he is the Commander of. I guess he wasn't responsible for Deadpool either by your reasoning

  6. I would hope the HPD code of conduct would prohibit an officer from displaying a swastika tattoo, but who knows, or at least requiring it to be covered while on duty

  7. Cicero vs. Norm Pattis is gonna be fun to watch. Get ready to rumble Paulie. Maybe take the cobra for one last lap?

  8. This video was highly edited I wonder why? Yes that woman was out of line but officers are trained to deal with citizens who are running off at the mouth. One of the greatest inventions ever made was the pepper spray. That stuff will nuetralize just about anyone why wasnt that used? And to be totally honest if i was taken into custody by police and one i was taken to lockup and saw police officers rocking Neo Nazi tattoos I prolly would of spit on em too. Thats a whole other conversation which city officials and other parties should be looking into. Once again where are the Guardians great work Kevin!!!!!!

    1. At least you asked before making dumb comments like most people. Pepper spray isn’t used in the booking facility because it’s a closed secure area. When pepper spray is used in booking, the entire booking area becomes contaminated and the population is affected by the irritant, both prisoners and officers. This could lead to a major medical incident with multiple patients at a holding facility. Not good.

    2. Well with that said the two female officers should of went to town on her not the males. Either way this is a no win situation in the current climate

    3. That’s not how police work works. This isn’t an UFC fight where men fight men and women fight women. If your a woman and want to spit and fight like a man, your treated like a man.

    4. Well unfortunately police work doesn’t work that way! The two female officers should of went to town on her? Seriously? You mean like some girl fight in the streets or something? Do you think when a male resists arrest or fights with the police, only the males go to town? Or vice versa, if a female resists arrest or fights with the police, the males step back and let the female officers go to town? Do you realize how stupid that sounds? When anyone spits, assaults the police etc, ALL present officers use the necessary force to secure and handcuff/secure the person. There’s an old saying. If you act (fight) like a man, you are treated like a man. If you act like a lady, you are treated like a lady. As far as this being a no win situation in the current climate, couldn’t agree more.

  9. We should take a poll to see just how many cops have a nazi tattoo on their body.....

  10. Cicero better try to make friends with the federal judges because that’s what kept him in the game for years. Kissing all the right butts is his specialty! I guess Ralph finally figured out the price for his loyalty.

  11. Kevin, I can't believe that you feel that if a police officer is found to have swastika tattoos that all he or she should have to do is cover them up!

  12. Kevin, again thank you for your relentless efforts to bring this incident to public light and demanding accountability, otherwise this would be covered up by Chief Jason Thody and Paul Cicero and others like the Taho-Gate incident. Clearly there is a recurring pattern here.

After reviewing the highly edited and redacted video, it's of my information and belief the actions warranted Guize’s arrest. More troublesome is the dialogue between the female arrestee and the booking officer, who exacerbated the situation instead of descelating, and the male booking officer should be held accountable for his actions in this incident too.

Side bar, the same booking officer was one of the officers directly involved in an incident in which a male arrestee died in the booking division while in his care, custody, and control.

Clearly the young lady in this incident was in crisis and the situation should have been handled much differently.

As I’ve said in my other responses on your blog the good people of Hartford need to take warning!!! This is what the Hartford Police Department looks like under a Jason Thody administration - abuse of power and public mistrust.

    1. Put the blame where it belongs, right at 550 Main St. Thody got this position with Luke's approval at the behest of former chief rovella. He pushed hard for thody to be his successor and that's a fact.

That is totally untrue that Rovella pushed for Thody. You seem to forget that Thody was not Rovella's replacement. Bronin forced Rovella out because he wanted to bring in a Hispanic Chief to garner political support in the Hispanic community. David Rosado only lasted for a short time and Bronin was in a bind so he made a hasty decision to appoint Thody. I am not sure why he keeps him, but there has to be some sort of leverage to keep Thody despite all of the problems. And that's the facts.

  14. Officer James Guzie ran outta the Baltimore Maryland Police Department. But was amazingly picked up by HPD. In which hes had multiple domestic arrests and incidents. Seems this piece of $hit coward likes to put his hands on women. And 31 firearms were seized from his home so was he preparing for a civil war or sumtin?? Boy I tell ya that White Male Privilege is better than hitting the lotto. Chief Thody you got some nerve talking all that trash about Guzie with all your skeletons. Someone did a whole docier on Guzie last night online. Great work Kevin!!!!

  15. CBS aired the video I find it interesting they didnt edit out Felicia Jenkins calling an officer a (Cracker) but they edited out her stating officer had a tattoo of a Swatsika!!! Wow

  16. Hartford’s finest and I mean the accused female. The booking officers should have thrown that twit in a cell until she was no longer intoxicated and ignored her obviously horrible outburst.

The booking officers failed to control the prisoner and that led to her continuing outbursts or she is just an asshole which is more likely.

Sgt Guzie reported his use of force. He should be getting a good lawyer and will get off. Spitting on anyone is assault.

Guzie should however look for another job cause two times in trouble is two times too many. And if anyone has a swastika as a tattoo it should by “see you later”.

But let’s not cast the female imbecile as Joan of Arc just yet. Her definition includes human disgrace.

  17. There was no swastika. In fact, that cop is Jewish. Just more nonsense from an out of control prisoner.

  18. Regardless of the officer religions or spiritual beliefs, without a doubt it can be confirmed as a result of this incident his tattoo(s) symbolism is highly questionable and a trigger.

One of the tattoos in question closely resembles the Totenkopf, which is the German word for skull (A/K/A as the death's head") symbol. The term Totenkopf is commonly associated with 19th- and 20th-century German military use. In the early days of the Nazi Party, Julius Schreck, the leader of the Stabswache (Adolf Hitler's personal protection unit), resurrected the use of the Totenkopf as the unit's insignia.

As the booking officer’s tattoo was an emotional trigger in this situation, said officer should be ordered immediately to cover it up by wearing long sleeve shirts, and I would also suggest he be mandated to attend some form of sensitivity training. Other other officers have had to do the same in the past to prevent incidents from taking place.

    1. How is Hartford cop able to wear any type of tatoo remotely closely related to anything involving Hitler????

      Delete
  19. Yeah, this definitely sounds like the police officer's fault for "triggering" another person because we all know it's too hard to control ourselves when we see things we don't like.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The trigger was the drunken female with the bad behavior, use of racial language and a never
    Ending supply of nasty.

When aholes like her are allowed to act like that without consequences the behavior continues.
That creep is a zero and caused all of her own problems.

I wonder what the esteemed use of force expert would do if spat upon? Another twit in this saga of BS.

I’m not going to defend a low life piece of drunken crap that spits at anyone. At the same time, I guess you are proud of a man punching a handcuffed woman in the face. You must be proud of yourself. Your mama taught you well.

  23. Seems like there is a pattern here. The good news is Guzie will be found NOT GUILTY or the case gets dropped. The administratiob will sit on the internal investigation for years.
