DAN NOLAN SUING HARTFORD FIREFIGHTERS UNION

Dan Nolan serving in Afghanistan

I had thought that once Dan Nolan won his job back through a Judges order , that would be the end of  this nonsense. Apparently not.

Nolan is now being forced to sue the same Union that is supposed to represent his employee rights. The lawsuit has been filed and is posted below, it is pretty much self explanatory. It should have every Hartford firefighter questioning why they are paying Union dues. If they would treat Nolan like this after his court decision, do the members really feel confident they would be represented fully?

Might be time to put those dues into an escrow account until their brother firefighter receives his just representation.

A Labor Relations Complaint has also been filed with the State of Connecticut, that can also be viewed below

  1. I have known Danny for years, and I don't blame him one bit for sueing the Union, this isn't the first time they have been shady, they pick and choose who they want to represent, they have been doing this for over 25 years that I have known. You go Danny !

  2. The thing I am not sure many people realize is that the entire mess and the termination process was started by the Union President in an e-mail that he probably thought no one would ever see, but I got it. He wrote to former COO Lee Erdmann based on a so called "anonymous " complaint from a recruits wife and said it was imperative he protect the recruits union rights. Ironically, the same rights he is refusing to enforce for a 24 year veteran of the Department

  4. Does the union have an explanation for this lawsuit? It looks to me like they are not representing the membership prudently. Do they think that Dan Nolan is going to accept anything less than the full remedy that he was awarded? The leadership of the union should really know better. They really look like an extension of City Hall with the same morals or lack thereof.

  5. Anonymous 9:54PM, if you read the claim, it is pretty clear they are an extension of City Hall, enforcing the Administrations policies, not protecting their members. It could be anyone of the members, not just Nolan. What possible justification could there be for refusing to attempt to enforce a Judges lawful order in favor of one of your dues paying members?

  6. I believe the FF Union operates on whats called the "mushroom theory". For those not familiar with it, it means keep everyone in the dark and feed them lots of shit. Same way mushrooms are grown.
Everything is a big secret with the top union people, mostly out for themselves. I say mostly because they pick and choose who to represent, like not helping Dan.
Hartford is safe however, especially with TACTICAL UNION 1 on the line. What a joke. Once again Dan, do your thing and good luck. $$$$$$

  8. Kevin,
You're full of it. I've known Vinny for years. He would never screw a fellow union member. He's a man of integrity. If you have this "supposed" email that Vinny sent, let's see it.

  9. There are going to be a lot of sad faces when Fire Chief Terry Waller takes over and runs this here Department. No more playin around with these silly folk.

  10. For Tic Tac Toe...God help the Fire Dept. and it's members if Terry Waller is ever a Chief, it's bad enough he is still there, maybe when the City gets rid of his so called wife Sandra, maybe he will get the hint and leave, the both of you are greedy and screwballs! and as far as the FF Union, it reminds me of the days when Rudy was running the show, just like Vinnie thinks he can run the show....just remember what happened to Rudy !

  11. In response to Tic Tac Toe,
I wonder if Sandy enjoys having Waller under her shoe? At least it will be easy for her to kick him to the curb when she feels the time has come.
Hartford is already going down the sewer. Why not make Waller Chief? He can join the rest of the incompetents that are running the show.

  12. I've worked with Terry more times than I care to remember. He brags about the day he's made chief of department, "when I become chief I'm gonna fire the whole lot of ya" was his favorite saying!

  14. Hey Kevin take a look at the firefighters at the Tac Unit. Almost every guy assigned to that unit is affiliated with the union! Some of those guys can't even pick up some of the eqipment they are so out of shape!!! My 2 year old son has more strenth than some of those weak babies there!!! After doing my own research I found that only one shift out of the 4 shifts was not affiliated with the union!! That might change in time also!! Little Charlie gets punked by the union because he has no balls!! Can u believe they are pulling every person assigned there at the same time at 1 or 2 weeks at a time and filling the Tac Unit on every shift with brand new and probationary firefighters because they have to go to training to learn how to use ther own tools!!after all these years they must had forgot how to use them!!another union scam!!for them to get more over time!!!l God forbid one of your loved ones gets int a bad accident or trapped in a building fire and the Tac unit arrives with a bunch of guys or ladies that are untrained using the eqipment!!!!!!shame on the HFD for allowing this to happen!!! There is only one shift down there u can count on!! Sad but true! I rather stay at a slow house and sit back and laugh !!

  15. Anyone know why our Union President Vinnie is taking this "specialized" training with the line guys?
He has been on detached duty for years. Another way to scam more money possibly? After all, living off a FF salary and union president stipend is tough. Why not grab some line O.T. on top of that?
Oh yeah, Vinnie was the only Union President to ever take line O.T. while on detached duty.
What a joke. Both the Testicle Unit and Local 760 are a mess. Ooops, I forgot that Local 760 and the Testicle Unit are one and the same!
Testicle Union #1 is no longer about being good firefighters, it is just a mobile Union Office for Vinnie's friends.

  16. To F.G.Crystal Ball, you must be either a female under the Terry Waller charm, or you are on drugs. Terry Waller couldn't make a pimple on yours or anyone else's ass, you don't get it ! NOBODY likes him, and nobody wants him, because he is "invested" into the F.D. already, their hands are tied, and there is nothing else to do but to let him ride his time out !

  17. Dan has become a joke and needs to go away...no one gives a rats ass who he is or what he does on this job. He got his job from a lawsuit and has caused quite a bit of trouble over the course of his time here. He is trying his best to ruin the HFD's image. Yes we have our issues, they're our issues. Every department has them. And for the jealous folks talking about the Tac...your just mad someone else was put there instead of you. To bad all that time on your knees didn't pan out.

    Hey Vinny,
Your goose is cooked. Did you really think you were going to get away with the crap that you pulled? Your arrogance and stupidity has subjected the union brotherhood to a lawsuit. Crawl back under your rock, you idiot!

  19. Why is it you haven't printed anything about Dan Nolan formally withdrawing his lawsuit against the Fire Union and its membership after the arbitrator told him and his lawyer that he had no case against the union whatsoever. Where is your fairness in reporting?
