TOMORROW ON "WE THE PEOPLE"

Just a little tease for two postings coming for tomorrow.

Who are the latest city employees to be arrested at 50 Jennings Road? You might be surprised by the answer, and why has it been kept so quiet? Very few people were even aware of the arrest when I talked to them today. Learn more here tomorrow.

And also at 50 Jennings Road, find out who's touching who. This one will read like a segment from "Beverly Hills 90210" and you will most likely be shaking your head in disbelief that these are the same people responsible for your Public Safety. And at least one of the "touchy feely" leaders was the recipient of a "DKR headed out the door pardon" when their promotion probation was ended a couple months early to head off any possible demotions.

Check in tomorrow for all the details and more.

  1. I look forward to your report on Jennings Road. I know it's off topic, but as your blog is a place to blow off steam about Hartford politics generally, and before it's forgotten in the course of events, I'd note the situation with our defunct downtown grocery store. As Jeff Cohen reports, the City is owed $400,000 for that venture. Anybody want to bet how much of that we'll see paid back?http://www.yourpublicmedia.org/content/wnpr/market-hartford-21-owes-vendors-cash

  2. On another topic;

Those of us that voted for Luis Cotto and/or Raul DeJesus for Council should be outraged that in according to today's Hartford Courant article several BOE candidates have yet to talk to them, with the impending vote tomorrow. The vote should be severed and voted upon individually( Pedro selected them on an individual basis and not in a group and the same should hold for the Council) and I would not blame Mr Cotto and/or Mr DeJesus for voting against anyone who dis-respected them by not meeting with them prior to the Council vote.

THe Mayor made a mistake by closely guarding his public preferences of selection.Once he came to a decision individually,he should have encouraged that person to reach out to the Council members individually so that everyone on the Council could have had the opportunity for a private meeting with the Mayor's selection. In addition,Mayor Segarra didnt communicate his BOE preferences to the Council until almost the last moment, when he sent the formal word and expected ratification almost immediately. He could have handled this better and I hope the next time that he appoints someone, there will be some modicum of transparency from him.

  3. Adam Cloud and Pedro Segarra have promised Marc DiBella the Chairmanship of the DTC,if his slate wins in the 4th district.Given his family baggage, grand jury appearances, and his lobbying for corporate republican interests like CLP/NU it will be a tough fit for him to inspire the largely liberal city urban democrats who walked away from the party and voted for the WFP.Mr DiBella was one of the key insiders who championed and worked for the Republicans to replace the WFP Councilmen. Mr DiBella lost that fight and if he losses his district town committee fight,he will be done for consideration as town chair.

  4. Anon 2:22 pm: Whether Mr. Dibella would be a good DTC Chair aside, you have chosen to couch your comment with probably the two people who have had the least connection to the town committee folks, other than seeking their favor for an endorsement last July. If nothing else, those two owe the town committee for their July endorsements and not the other way around. That is, of course, unless Adam and Pedro are planning on hiring 40 or so town committee members, their brothers, aunts, sisters, etc. soon as city employees. Pedro shows no sign of jumping on that bandwagon, and 40 hires in the Treasurer's office seems rather unlikely as well.

So, what was your real intent on posting this diatribe?

  5. Anon 7:09am, silly rabbit, it's DTC election time and the Roldan-Arena slate (supported by Bruce Rubenstein) is being hard pressed by DiBella's slate. So the Perez crew slings mud to dirty up their opponent and deflect from the fact that they have done bupkis to help the people in their district.

Well, OK they did try to help make Kelvin alcalde and then treasurer. But then again, Kelvin spends more time at the Hartford Golf Club living large on his father in law to be's tab or at Peppercorn's or in West Hartford with his fiance than he does anywhere south of Buckingham Street including his fake residence over by Trinity.

  6. it will be very hard to sell DiBella anywhere as he has more family baggage then the luggage department at Filene's Department Store.

DiBella took the lead and supported a known felon named Angel Morales and walked him around the convention and voted for him to be Secretary of the Hartford DTC, knowing that Morales was a felon who also has a prediliction for dancing before young teenage boys in his boxers and hanging around the high schools and library to meet them. It is also confirmed that Morales was hired to coordinate the DiBella petition drive in the 4th district....the DiBella/Morales connection will be the big issue in the 4th district.

When Mr DiBella supports and works with these kind of deviants it is easy to see why Kelvin Roldan looks good in comparison.

  7. Sure, the protege of Eddie Perez who has a do nothing six figure job at the board and spends no time in his district and who is supported by Eddie's bag boy (Arena) and the great influence peddler of the Saxon Perry administration (Rubenstein) looks good compared to the guy who brought down the Giles machine. Put down the crack pipe and stop taking meth b/c it's killing your brain my friend.

  8. Im Sure the day will come when the police are called to city hall to inveastigate another complaint of a sexual incident between Angel Morales and a young child. But at least there is a paper trail to prove his actions with young boys.

  9. Angel Morales should get a job at Chucky Cheese's.

you are in error and seem to be smoking bad chit. DiBella had nothing what so ever to do with bringing Giles down.Giles was found guilty of corruption charges and as part of a deal agreed to remove himself from politics...the same removal should happen to DiBella's felon henchman, Angel Morales.

  11. DiBella is just another silver spoon rich kid type who was handed his father's lobbying business to manage. He never worked for himself and his lobbying business is loaded with republican corporate interests. He might hope to be town chair but will have a long way to go to convince liberal urban democrats that he can stand on his own 2 feet without his daddy proping him up for once, and that he actually has a core democratic conscience. Most of us at the town committee meetings have never once heard him utter anything favorable to basic democratic party core issues.you might as well put in Mike McGarry as Democratic Party Town Chair.

  12. Anon 11:58 AM, sorry but your knowledge of 5th District politics is not real good. Abe's power on the town committee wasn't broken by the state's attorney or the indictment, it was broken by a slate assembled by Marc DiBella. If not for that slate, Abe may have taken a hit personally, but his son and daughter-in-law and all their flunkies would still run the 5th, Sean Arena would still be DTC chair and Abe would still be lurking in the background pulling the strings in the 5th, just like the convicted but not yet departed Eddie Perez still pulls the strings in the 4th.

your knowledge is terribly wrong and maybe Marc is paying you off with some "consulting" work.As repeated elsewhere, when Giles pead guilty, one of the conditions of the plea deal was that he remove himself from politics, DiBella had nothing to do with it unless he was filling in for the prosecutor that day.

BTW the slate that "Marc" assembled in the 5th district that you mentioned, would that slate consist of the FELON Mamie Bell and corrupt politicians like Steve Harries? lol

Marc has "assembled" much the same in the 4th...with Felon Angel Morales..

Will Marc release his grand jury testimony in the SEC matter?

  14. i received a call from 2 democrats in the 4th district. They have spotted and talked to Felon Angel Morales knocking on doors on behalf of the DiBella slate with party registrationstions and absentee ballot applications. I hope that there are no un-attended young boys in any household that he doorknocks.Felon Morales told those 2 democrats that he is foregoing any spare time that he has hanging around high schools and the library in order to work as a paid staffer for Marc DiBella.

  15. The Dibella slate that bought there way into the fifth district, with the likes of Clorinda Sodeveila, Jean Holloway, Steve Harris, all who will do anything for MONEY.Are not the reason "PEREZ BAG MAN" Sean Arena, is not Chairman. Arena did not need one of their votes. It is because Marc Dibella bought off, Steal from the city, admit it and then deny it Hector Robles! Who lied to everyone and changed his vote, only to have the very people that said they would help walk away. This group will lie down with anyone as long as they are being paid. This is the same group that support and VOTED for, and PAY, Blue Shorts, Known DEVIANT, FELON, Angel Morales! Interesting to note the Mayor Segarra's campaign team paid known Deviant, FELON, Angel Morales, this past summer to run his south end part of the campaign. This whole group will buy, pay for, lie about anything to get ahead. It is a shame there is not a "THIRD SLATE" in the Fourth district to vote for!

  16. In recent years the political establishment of Hartford has encouraged perverts, criminals and corrupt individuals to work and take part in politics. When the Mayor and Mr DiBella employs these types of folks it is never a good thing because they are also legitimizing this type of behavior at the expense of our democracy.

  17. Im sure the failed hartford 21 grocery store owners are banging on the front doors of city hall with a check book what a joke. The city will never see any or little of that money.
