Waller and Kee- Borges continue to line their pockets at taxpayer expense while Segarra lines his gut with caviar, lamb, and champagne courtesy of Hartford taxpayers. It is wrong as well as immoral the way they benefit themselves and their cronies as so many in Hartford are struggling to make ends meet and just keep the lights on and put food on the table.
What is wrong with teaching life's valuable lessons. Apply for a job and if you rise to the top of the other 407 candidates, congratulations. If not, better luck next time. Push yourself a little harder and earn what you want. That's how this country was built. Not everyone has the benefit of a corrupt Uncle Pedro or a scandalous Aunt Saundra.
This type of behavior is unconscionable to most of us, but apparently not to the Waller and Borges families who seem to have made careers of fleecing the people of Hartford. This behavior is only going to change with a complete flush and cleansing of the municipal cesspool at 550 Main Street. It is not going to happen under the "leadership" of Pedro Segarra. No matter how indignant he seems to be each time a scandal is revealed, the bottom line is it is all happening under his nose, on his watch, with his handpicked inner circle. Segarra is either incapable or unwilling to exert the level of leadership Hartford sorely needs.
Once or twice might be understandable, but the constant embarrassments have become the hallmark of Segarra's Administration and change is needed to start turning this disaster around and for Hartford to be taken seriously again. Only when the proper tone is set and accountability begins in City Government will things finally change. I don't see that happening under a Pedro Segarra Administration.
Some people are meant to lead, others should realize their failings and know when to call it quits gracefully.Pedro, now is your time.
This is indeed the right time for Segarra to quit, or, the very least, announce that he will not run for a new term.
ReplyDeleteThe other option is a visit from the FBI.
Your choice Segarra.
Everyone here who reads this blog and. Who are sick of Mayor Touch of Class Pedro Caviar, please start organizing now to get rid of this cancer.
ReplyDeleteThe reality is nothing will happen. I've read this blog for some years now and do applaud Kevin for his fearless approach on obtaining the truth and exposing it. It really is all frustrating as these facts come out and 90% of the time nothing happens besides the readers going berserk, as they should. I wonder why that is....
ReplyDeleteWe just can't give up. We must get rid of Segarra, all of us, together. At this time almost any alternative is better and safer than Segarra.
DeleteScandal after scandal, all under his watch, some involving himself.
ReplyDeleteA stadium we'll have to pay for for the next 26 years.
We've already said enough, Segarra must go.
I just want to comment on an inaccuracy in the audit commissions report which was in the Couranr the other day pertaining to my son, Arthur Moniz. Arthur was hired as a seasonal employee by Bhupen Patel in 2006, at which time his mother was essentially a clerk. She had no hiring authority. He went through the same process as every other Hartford resident. The audit report stated that he was hired in 2011 and they couldn't find any paperwork pertaining to his hiring. I suggest they look in his personnel file and their payroll records.
ReplyDeleteEven the Courant that used to turn its head in the direction have had enough with the corruption here, as appears in its latest editorial "Apparent Nepotism In Hartford Looks Bad".
ReplyDeleteI was actually planning to vote for Segarra this time. Scarborough pushed me over the edge, though. I just wish Bronin wasn't the alternative.
ReplyDeleteCorp. Counsel spending precious time and energy, not to mention our hard earned money, to evict a group of honest, peaceful, good people, The Scarborough 11. This is disgraceful. This is Pedro Caviar Segarra administration.
ReplyDeleteKevin ,It's hard for me to believe that a "ONCE" respected city ,that was "BUILT",,LITERALY AND FIGURATIVLEY, by thousands of ORDINARY and NOTABLE residents over the course of a century and many decades,,,,,,CAN FALL AND BE DESTROYED BY A HANDFUL OF IDIOTS IN JUST A FEW YEARS!!!!!!! PLEASE RESURRECT "MARK TWAIN" FOR ONE MORE QUOTE!! I'M SURE HE WILL WANT TO DIVE RIGHT BACK IN HIS GRAVE ONCE HE'S DONE!!!!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 8:57 a.m.: Bronin is not the only alternative. There's also John Gale, Joel Cruz, and Judge Bob Killian, who'll be announcing in a couple of weeks. May I suggest you read Killian's vision for the city, which Kevin posted earlier this week on his blog?
ReplyDeleteJohn Gale and Joel Cruz maybe nice guys, but totally irrelevant in this race.
DeleteAt this time it's Luke Bronin, and Luke Bronin only. He's very close to the Governor and the legislature, and we need someone like him to bring more money from PILOT, which is currently very low, someone who can use state funds and incentives to bring businesses to Hartford. That's what we need for Hartford.
Joel Cruz you are one big liar. You said you haven't decided how to vote for the stadium when you already knew that you supported it. You voted in favor of the stadium just a few hours later.
DeletePedrito Segarra:
ReplyDeleteis a modern NIRO; burning Rome and debasing Hartford and the last 60 years of Latino struggle for inclusion.
Segarra, you have become a major embarrassment to a Hispanic/Latino struggling community.
Kevin,(no need to comment back, unless you want to) If you are scheduled to go on WDRC AM Saturday morning with Tony Terzi,I think you should give a heads up to those of us who frequent your blog. Thanks and looking forward to your visit or call with him.
ReplyDeleteIt hasn't been confirmed yet, but I will post it here if and when it is
ReplyDeleteI disagree, although the state should be reimbursing for their fair share, Hartford needs to be self sufficient and stop looking for the handouts from the state, the state money just isn't there any longer to continually bail Hartford out
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous 8:37 p.m.: Your post reads like a paid political announcement.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but I was studying and evaluating carefully who the best candidate is. I'm not connected, related or affiliated with ANY of them, and I'm ready to work as hard as I can to remove/defeat Segarra, a disastrous mayor, manipulator, corrupt and a big, big liar.
DeleteMy colleagues and myself met Luke Bronin yesterday evening. Before and after the speech he gave, Luke was ready to answer ANY question and discuss ALL issues, including from outsiders who weren't familiar with him earlier. Nothing was off the table.
DeleteEveryone was highly impressed by the man, his sincerity, his knowledge. Luke is definitely going to be a strong and efficient mayor if elected. A real leader, not a ceremonial puppet. He understands what facing Hartford and what needs to be done.
After multiple "storms" and "earthquakes" under Segarra's watch, not to mention corruption, it's time to tell Segarra goodbye and choose a better mayor.
I agree, the new mayor will have to deal with the legislature and the governor quiet a bit and Luke has already dealt with them. As for the governor, of all 4 or 5 candidates who knows him best?
Delete9:35pm
ReplyDeleteRight now, anyone besides Segarra needs and deserves a serious look. The next candidate to announce should make this a very interesting race. Check out the Courants editorial that was posted on line tonight.
" A B P " = Anyone But Pedro. ANYONE BUT PEDRO.
ReplyDeleteWe cannot rule out Judge Bob Killian. He is competent and knows politics better than anyone running for the Mayor of Hartford. I do not think the Democratic Town Committee's endorsement of any candidate will help any candidate win. These people do not represent the majority of real voters. Some of these Democratic committee members have been on for many, many years. Hartford needs young and vibrant people. A lobbiest is the head of the Hartford's Democratic Committee. What a Joke!Shame on these people who allow this to exist. As the saying goes IT IS NOT WHAT YOU KNOW IT IS WHO YOU KNOW.
ReplyDeleteI think Governor Malloy learned a valuable lesson a few years ago about meddling in local Mayoral elections with the Shawn wooden mess. I don't think you will see the governor getting too involved in this one, at least not openly and publicly.
ReplyDeleteGov. Malloy will not get involved in the race for mayor this time, but he will have to work with the future mayor. The question is who has the better connection, the better relations with the Governor. That person will bring $$$ to Hartford. At this point, that's truly what we need.
ReplyDeleteJudge Killian is a very nice person, I hear that he's a good judge. No reason on earth to dislike him.
ReplyDeleteHowever, to do the job as Hartford mayor right we need a real 'fighter' with tons of energy, not a 'nice guy'.
Nothing against Luke Bronin, but it sure seems like there's an awful lot of posts here that smack suspiciously of being planted by that good man's campaign team.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 2:27 p.m.--You obviously have never met, heard, read about, or spoken with Bob Killian. If you had, you'd know he's a "real fighter with tons of energy". And as far as a relationship with Malloy goes, Killian has been a dedicated public force for over 30 years, and I'm sure he's formed very solid relationships with Malloy and members of the legislature.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of Judge Killian, I've read his views and assessment about Hartford and I agree with what the Judge wrote.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of respect to the Judge Killian, and I still believe Luke Bronin will be the best candidate to lead this city.
Anonymous 6:21PM,
ReplyDeleteTalk is cheap, let's have some details, what sets Bronin ahead of Killian? Or is it just your feeling?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcxNFUPD3WE
ReplyDeleteAttorney Luke Bronin, Attorney John Gale, Attorney Bob Killian are the three Democratic candidates as of March 27,2015. The Hartford voters will decide who their support will go to.
ReplyDeleteBob Killian is probate judge until April 10th, he is not a candidate yet
ReplyDeleteLuke Bronin will be the best candidate to lead this city
ReplyDelete-----
At Bronin's campaign website we discover that he's another social engineer who thinks it's the job of City Hall to fix our problems with more government programs. Judge Killian may not agree with me that decades of activist government by the City, State, and Feds has done zero good for the town to accept that at this point the most important issue is controlling spending and reducing property taxes. Further, Bronin seems unaware that money from the State and Feds sloshing through City Hall for the past thirty or forty years has often been the focus of unethical activities when it's not merely been wasted. Bronin may not have been around during the Eddie Perez episode, and maybe didn't see the recent report on delinquent federal housing loans.

In addition to working every day to convince employers to locate or grow their business here in Hartford, as Mayor I will:
Be an aggressive advocate for Hartford’s businesses when they seek assistance from programs like the State’s Small Business Express Program;
Promote and expand the use of local labor and minority contractors for all public projects;
Mi querido Pedrito, you are failing big time as our leader. My advice to you is to stop catering to your dear friend Saundra; you are blind. SKB is not your friend and you can not continue with this flea attached, cause shes like that tainted ball in the sack that u can't used. If you want to play ball in our new stadium; then you need to play the game right. You know that three strikes and you are out. Then by now you know that SKB has reach above and beyond her limits of strikes. so its time to send her flying out of the park. Its bad enough that the team already got one of the worst name i have ever heard of in baseball history. You know that in Spanish the name doesn't go well. Honestly, many are not thrilled so already we are on the loosing end. And so are you, it's not looking good for you this time around.
ReplyDeleteSaundra is a very good friend of Pedrito, for as long as she can milk the city out of money, more and more money for herself, and as long as she can place her family members, relatives and friends in positions within the city. For that, not only Saundra is a friend, she's a best friend.
DeleteSaundra is a parasite, Pedrito is just an idiot.
Ditto;
ReplyDeletePlease resign, you're admin; La Luz, Figueroa,De Dios?, all your Latinos(Ricans) played U big time w/their incompetents and their BS.
- Nene, you got played by Ur disconnected community fools,
Varon, Vete.
