THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE AT HFD , DONALD BROWN ARRESTED

On April 24th, 2015 at approximately 4:58pm, the Hartford Police Department received a 911 reporting that a person was shot in the driveway of 131 Hebron Street. On arrival, the victim was identified as Lascelles Reid, 31, of Simsbury, CT. Reid was found lying on the ground, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the torso. Reid, alert and conscious, was transported to Saint Francis Hospital via AMR ambulance. Responding HPD Patrol Officers also met with Donald Brown, 54 of Hartford, CT. Brown was on scene and cooperative when police arrived. Brown said he shot Reid with his 9mm firearm one time because he was in fear of Reid. The 9mm firearm used in this incident was secured by officers as well as a single 9mm shell casing. Detectives from the Hartford Police Department Major Crimes Division responded and assumed the investigation. The scene was processed by the HPD Crime Scene Division.

As of this date, Reid has not fully recovered and continues to require medical attention.

On May 14, 2015 Hartford Police Major Crimes Division Detectives applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Donald Brown, for the charge of Assault in the First Degree, 53a-59(a)(5). Judge set bail was $150,000. Donald Brown turned himself into HPD without incident.

Donald Brown, formerly a 25 year veteran of the Hartford Fire Department, retired on May 1st and is no longer an employee of the City of Hartford.  (Brown was off duty at the time of this incident)

  1. Oh yeah, Donald Brown "retired" instead of getting "fired". Donald Brown who enjoyed workers comp for a long time, was in a lot of pain to show up at the FD, but had no pain working, improving and renovating his rental propertiimes. Poor Donald.

  2. Congrats Donald on your retirement!
On the job for 25 years, 15 actually on the line, and 10 spent on A injury. I heard the High Street " Fish Bowl" is being re-named after you, since you spent the most time there.
Your only mistake was having to retire before you had your chance to go out on a disability.

  4. Stack is locked and loaded for a showdown. You cant touch eap or a handicapping disorder. He is addicted to abusing sick time and drinking. He will get away with the same crap ruthie, tracey , and the torch ( rimundi) did in the past here. Its not a color thing either.( that augistino character is still employed) Crabtree is livin large smith & wesson as a sales rep with his full hpd pension. All examples of lack of documentation and abuse of eap/ personnel doctor relations. The court system is also a joke. Gail Hardy could care less.
In regards to dudley, i give the same advice as i did to kessler, stay low and quiet for a couple of years until the next hpd american idol zero to screw up ....

Really ?? Naacp? Really. I love how cowards use color as a defense for their screwing up . What was the rush dudley, west hartford police following a suspected stolen vehicle . Was it worth taking someone elses life because of your inability to follow simple dept rules and regulations ??????? Any other dept would have canned you immediately but rovella did you a favor. Instead of improving yourself, you decide to bitch and curse the dept from booking. Well you know what, per city hall it will rain dollar bills before you ever operate a city vehicle for a long time. So work your pjs and get ready for the civil trial.

  12. Kevin, how's that Hartford residents only apply for the fire dept working for you??? How ironic is it that this week the city announced a "new" initiative to hire their "own" instead of "outsiders". Isn't it already in place??? Most of Hfd's worst employees are born and raised here. This bird is from Hartford and on the democratic town committee! So sorry to repeat myself ,but how's it working out for you kev???

  13. Anonymous 4:51 you a racist prick your statement alone speaks volumes so let me guess people who grow up in Hartford aren't qualified to work in Hartford according to your logic well we don't want nazis like you in our city

Mayor Pedro will win again you know why? Because Puerto Ricans vote an they stick together something Black people should learn to do an I'm Black so all these new candidates don't hold your breadth your just going through the motions

  15. While I accept the concept of hiring 'Hartford' residents over those who are not, it assumes the candidate is qualified in all respects and has at least equal qualifications of 'non' Hartford residents. Hiring an individuals of lesser qualifications because they are a Hartord resident is a STUPID concept and leads to a degridation or the standards. Why this simple concept is beyont the our 'Leadership's' comprehension is beyond me!

  16. The concept is beyond them because if they followed it their less than stellar family members would not get on

  17. It's amazing that Brown was never arrested for promoting dog fighting. What a model citizen and proud representative of the Phoenix Society.

  19. Is it a coincidence and/or ironic that the"resident only" requirement pertains to only 2 entities that are the most incompetent, dysfunctional, costly ,embarrassing, dangerous and unfortunately deadly to the city of Hartford,,,,the fire department and public works. Kevin, please tell me your position had swayed, at least "a little bit" !!!

  20. I believe there should be some priority for residents at all City Dep, but should not be an excuse to hire incompetent individuals; and that is the case. The City workforce is full of incompetent, inept people with very low skills and poor costumer service abilities.I have news, it is not going to change either. It is supported by all the clowns in the city council, the corrupt mayor and all the unions.

Donald Brown is a fine example of how residency works for the City of Hartford. Maybe if he was on Moree's crew we wouldn't have had a tragedy. Neither would have been in the fire.
