IT MUST RUN IN THE FAMILY

Or maybe it is something in the water at Hartford City Hall.

According to numerous sources, former Hartford City Councilman Corey Brinson is allegedly the subject of a federal criminal investigation. Brinson is the nephew of disgraced former Hartford City Councilwoman Veronica Airey-Wilson who was indicted by a State Grand Jury on criminal charges  during the Perez investigation while she was a Hartford City Councilwoman.

According to sources, Federal Agents served a search warrant on Brinson's law office last Thursday at 4:45PM. Brinson shares office space with former Hartford City Council member Alexander Aponte at 750 Main St.. Brinson's home had reportedly been searched by Fed's earlier

According to the sources, numerous records and computer data was removed from the office, relevant to the ongoing Federal Investigation
A call to Brinson's Office for comment was unsuccessful.

According to Brinson's webpage: "In 2013, he served as a member of Hartford's Charter Review Commission. In 2011, Brinson served as a member of the Hartford City Council in 2010, Attorney Brinson was a statewide candidate for Connecticut Secretary of the State"

Much more on this to come, but at least Brinson is carrying on his family tradition of keeping the Connecticut Law Enforcement community busy.

Quite possibly another name to add to the Hartford politics "Wall of Shame" in the future

  3. Corey is one of the great success stories this city has produced. He grew up in a single parent family, born and raised on magnolia st in the north end, graduate of hartford high, joined the armed forces and put himself through college. Hes built a solid reputation in law, don't assume criminal charges or corruption is pending, he's nothing like his aunt. He has always given back to his community.

Not what I am hearing, but time will tell.

If he did nothing wrong he has nothing to worry about, but the Feds don't usually play to lose .

And his aunt also proclaimed her innocence until the day the cuffs went on

  5. And while the Feds are visiting Corey's office at 750 Main St., they should also add a little search of Aponte's office. They may find lots of stuff there as well.

How could a man with a warm and fuzzy name of "Corey" be bad. Nooooooo, not Corey.

  8. Plain and simple: Power Corrupts

How many times have we seen politicians who have done well break laws for tiny amounts of money? Remember John Rowland.

Does Hartford have any type of law that if an elected / retired official is found / pleads guilty to crimes involving their office, they lose all benefits?

  9. Anonymous 7:52AM. Brunson was not on the Council long enough to qualify for any benefits.

  11. to the commentor regarding the Union issue I have been assured that the travel expenses did not come out of Union funds and she shared a room with her husband, which didn;t result in any additional expense. That's about as far as I can go, I would suggest if you want to know more, bring it up at a Union meeting. Based on that, out of fairness, I deleted your comment because I feel that normally family members should not be dragged in

  12. I feel this post is biased Corey is no longer on city council he's not being investigated for anything that involves city council so why are you bringing up his aunt situation ???

  13. Eddie Perez is no longer Mayor and he is still news, John Rowland is no longer Governof and he is still news. Alleged criminal activity by a public figure is always news

  14. The only thing I can say about both him and his law partner is they don't like paying sales taxes. Nobody does but when an officer of the court tries to wiggle out of paying, I take a dim view of them.

    Soooo, has he represented you?

  17. Why hasn't the Courant reported on this yet? When a former city councilor and attention-seeking lawyer gets search warrants served on his home and office, it's news. Any chance the facts or wrong, or has the Courant not yet logged into WeThePeopleHartford yet for stories it has been scooped on (again).

Don't expect the Courant to copy the story from WeThePeopleHartford.com
The Courant is a weak, irrelevant paper.
The Courant will not exist in 3-4 years.
