TIME FOR THE ENDORSEMENT'S

I would hope that no one would vote for a candidate based upon who the media, or local newspaper or even a blog would "endorse".

I thought I was looking at the comic's page this morning when I saw the Courant was "endorsing Luke Bronin for re-election. But did anyone expect anything different?

The more I see Luke Bronin and his operation, the more similarities I see to the Trump Administration. High turnover, high arrogance, a sense of entitlement and also, much like 2016, the two "front runners" are both terrible choices and I think many Hartford voters will fill out the little bubble on their ballot while holding their noses.

There are alternatives to Perez and Bronin though, and I would hope that as we get closer to the real election in November that the DTC coronation of Luke Bronin will be a distant memory . Distant memories of Luke Bronin and Eddie Perez both. I hope that people would start paying some serious attention to Stan McCauley and take a few minutes to get to know him.

Most people didn't know Luke Bronin until he decided he wanted to buy a Kingdom and be the King, also known as the 2015 Mayoral election. He is trying to buy the King's throne once again courtesy of Greenwich dollars. Just think back, how many of you knew the name Luke Bronin before the 2015 election. I don't see many hands being raised out there, so maybe very few or NONE. While I am asking questions, how many of you have seen Eddie Perez out in the community since he was arrested and bounced from Office in disgrace. Why is he back suddenly? Does he see money in development t on Albany Avenue or maybe it is time to start reconstruction on Park Street since it is falling apart due to his below standards corruption , I mean construction, work performed by his cronies on Park Street. (He did get his home renovated as a result of that corruption, all we got were potholes and defective brick walkways popping out of Park Street , and not to mention huge legal costs for battling him and keeping members of his staff from going to jail)

I think you get my point for the time being, Stan McCauley is someone that just about every member of the Community who has gone outside their homes in the last 25 years have probably met or has seen Stan and his wife and children out in the community, not because he was running for something, but because he is actually one of us.

I really don't think a lot of people have put much time or thought into the members they elect to the Hartford City Council, but I think you really need to.

Do you realize that when you elect a Council person, you are potentially electing the next Mayor of the City. If the elected Mayor ever becomes incapacitated or is forced from Office by a corruption scandal or arrest, the President of the City Council becomes Mayor. Remember Pedro Segarra?

So on the primary ballot under column 1-MAYOR, my vote will be none of the above.

There, that's simple. I will save my bubble for Stan McCauley in November.

As far as City Council, Minority party representation laws apply in Connecticut, so out of 9 Council seats, only 6 can go to Democrats. I've chosen 5, First off is TJ Clarke. TJ has at least remained somewhat independent from the Bronin Administration. That fact probably resulted in his demise as the Council President when the Bronin puppets on the Council orchestrated his demise with a bogus "texting" scandal. TJ deserved our support

Next is a newcomer and someone I will admit I have never met. I am hearing good things about Nick Lebron from people whose opinion I trust, so I will give him a shot. I would prefer the unknown of a newcomer to those who were lackluster or worse their first time on the Council and want to get voted back on.

I was a little on the fence over Jimmy Sanchez, but much like TJ Clarke, I think he deserves the opportunity to hopefully prove himself.

My next choice is someone I can't say enough positive things about and I was thrilled, actually almost ecstatic, the day she called me and said she had decided to run for City Council. If you look up the definition of "integrity" in the dictionary, I am sure you will see the picture of Shirley Surgeon there. I have known and called Shirley Surgeon a friend for many years. If you are having a bad day, just call Shirley and her cheerful voice and accent , and advice, can't help but get you going again. Shirley also has an uncanny knack for being able to relate to just about anyone and make them feel comfortable, exactly what City Hall needs. Shirley was also a very close friend to my late political mentor, John B. O'Connell. Although O'Connell was a diehard Republican and Shirley was a loyal Democrat, they both were able to work together and communicate like adults.

Something else City Hall is lacking is that ability to work together for the good of the City. Shirley has that. Shirley also has a knowledge of City Hall from years of experience. She was the Council Assistant to the late John Stewart, she was the Democratic Registrar for years and then moved on to work in State Government. Shirley would be a great mentor for all Council members and I think we would see some serious work accomplished without the bickering we have become accustomed to.

My Final choice is Eli Mercado. For those of you who don't know Eli, you probably aren't going to enough community meetings. Eli is a permanent fixture at many meetings of people trying to help Hartford. He seems well connected with the Community and I think his concern and community involvement would definitely be an asset for any Council member.

I hope this information helps and I would not be presumptuous enough to do anymore than ask you to  educate yourself to the choices and then get out and vote

  1. Elect someone who will hold the leadership at Hartford Public Schools accountable for the destruction they unleashed on the Hartford school district. They are dishonest and self-serving and should be reconstituted just like they're doing to the schools they messed up with their misguided policies. These people are clueless and it's time to stop allowing them to scapegoat teachers for their failures.

  2. Isn't calling the complaint against tj "bogus" a form of victim shaming since there is actually a complainant that lodged a formal complaint and left her job because of his behavior?

    1. Victim shaming ? What he do other than text her? There was no stalking or harassment he shamed his wife and family. But if I can give Bill Clinton a second chance for his Monica fiasco I can damn sure give TJ one. That BS was embellished by the media

    2. So in that case Eddie deserves a second as well

    3. Angel Arce only texted that young girl and he had to move on. Let's just wipe everyone's slate clean and give em all a 2nd chance.

  3. Stan is completely out of touch with the young generation dude did a FB livestream talking about politics in Hartford on a Sunday evening during an NBA playoff game . I'm like really Stan who you think gonna watch you right now?? And who does he have in his circle to tell him not to do silly $hit like that? Stan has a good heart but he is no King Leonidas on the battlefield of politics

  5. People more worried about watching basketball on tv instead of worrying about the city they live in is all you need to say about why Hartford is in such bad shape! You can re-watch a basketball game, you can't re-do a bad election choice!

  6. Did you see the headline in today's paper and the photograph (Monday) . It was disgusting: A nice article on the Parkville Market but with a photo of Bronin "doing a tour" and a headline that said "A New Energy". Article should have run on Wednesday, that it ran the day before the primary should tell us all we need to know about the Courant!

  8. Stan seems like a nice guy, but he has lost multiple political races and has never come even close to winning. The only way to beat Bronin is to vote for one of his opponents on Tuesday. If Bronin wins, he will simply point out Stan is the endorsed Republican and ignore him as Stan tries to live-stream himself to relevance.

People who really want Stan to win would be supporting someone other than Bronin on Tuesday, so Stan might face a less well financed candidate. I'm not sure a number of his "supporters" really want him to win.

  9. Kevin,

Can C4 take down the cameras monitoring the front and rear doors of the Executive Mansion on Elm Street now that the Law Professor has given her Little Napolean the boot and the new boy toy has taken up residence? Is it really a staff member he has taken up residence with? It is a shame they couldn't keep their split a secret to deceive the voters like they had planned

  10. Kevin,
BOWSZA says he will figure out who at the pd gives you information and target them this is how out of touch he is. You have more support from the rank and file than the entire second floor together.
Moral is at an all time low because of people like BOWSZA that have no clue what we do every day. Thank you for being our voice Kevin

Probably the better question is, "who hasn't talked to me?" I am not sure why they are so obsessed at finding out who talks to me, maybe if they actually spent their work time actually focusing on their jobs and making the City better we would all be much better off, and all because they feel their cushy take home vehicles are being threatened? Or maybe because their dirty PJ deals are being exposed? It is funny because the people they are focusing on are my friends, not my "sources". It might be more appropriate if I told them to take the elevator to the second floor, look to the right, look to the left and look straight ahead, that might be more fitting if you are looking. The answers might be right in front of you.

  12. 10:11 - who is your source. Bronin and his wife were at their victory party

  13. Why don't you ask the DTC chairman how many #metoo calls he silenced and swept under the rug...? Agree that he shamed wife and kids. Unfortunately his wife also chose to blame victim and rumors.

  14. Oh no!!! Bronin won!!! There goes your Paul West as Chief of police dream.. LoL!!

  15. Bowsza did more time on the streets than any of you new lames. Moral is low because of guys like Bowsza? How is that even possible? Because he’s the advocate that does his job when you fools continuously mess up. Get a life and start doing some work. You guys complaining so much is what’s bringing down the moral. Why don’t you try looking at some of your female partners. They get shit on daily and they hardly ever complain! Especially about the nonsense you cry babies complain about daily. Grow Up! Oh, and Brockman, you don’t have any friends at the PD. Trust me on that one.

Good to know, thanks. Does that mean I can stop taking all of the phone calls? And the people I trust aren't afraid to say things to my face, whether we agree or not

YOU HAVE PLENTY OF FRIENDS AT HTFD CT POLICE
BUT PAUL WEST IS NOT ONE OF THEM.

YOUR TRUSTED FRIENDS ARE IN THE PATROL AND COMMUNITY CSOs.

Thank you, I appreciate that and I do realize who my friends are there and who the phonies are.I also know who my friends are that I could call anytime of the day or night and they would be there for me, and I will do the same for them, and I think we all realize that

Patrol and CSO's are correct, but be fair. Also at the Academy, at the Range, MCD, JID, ESD, V&N, Property Room, and quite a few on the 2nd floor. I am sure Kevin's allies would total many more than the Bowsza fans

  21. So when is Luke going to wake up and realize he has the most incompetent, selfish, inexperienced Chief’s of Police in the state running his PD. Time for a national search Luke. Wait til you see those resumes make Thody’s look like a kindergartner. Wait til you hear your new candidates speak from an operational standpoint. Ever heard Thody do that? I have on 1080 am. He said “I don’t know why the violence is so bad.” WAKE UP. The Pd is in shambles. You crushed morale this summer Thody!!! HPD has so much potential - just not under your regime. Why should We work hard when you don’t care about the rank and file. Think I want you to look good? Think again.

  22. The PD is the exact same way that Rovella made it and left it. Rovella destroyed HPD as we know it. Next stop is the State Police. Gotta LOVE CT!

  23. Why is it that all the turds in the PD are all of a sudden trying to be good cops and team players? Hmmmm. Go back to sleeping in your cruisers and kicking shell casings in the gutters.

  24. Kevin
    We back you At HPD
But Paul West continues to do
Funny Impressios of Jason Thody and Sonia Watson.
Paul West was also implicated assisting his sister CHASTITY WEST in
2 murders. Why No transparency here?

  25. We can’t put the patrol morale blame on Thody. He’s too clueless to effect patrol. What we can put on Thody is his inability to surround himself with the correct people in the correct positions. Patrol Morale can be blamed on Gabe Laureano. Since March, his favoritism of the softball team has been more than apparent. Preapproved day’s off to junior guys the night before the sergeants test, softball players and family members in coveted, sought after assignments. Connolly, Varela, Elvis Martinez, Budhoo, Johnson, Samuels in walk beats? Really? Do they even know how to tag an 83 or take 77 off a perp? No. Walk beats used to be for proactive enforcement and hard chargers. Now I guess they want 261,265, etc eating at Scott’s and picking their nose. Gabe - it’s so obvious you forgot where you came from. Remember you got conditions after working hard as a new cop? How about you throw a good cop, who can write a good report and arrest a felon a bone instead of throwing a meatball to your cleanup hitter on your softball team. Just another reason 20 plus Lima codes are in lateral processes. Keep going. Command Staff ain’t got a clue.

Get your head out of the sand, The last time vehicles were purchased for the fleet was under Chief Rovella, and I don't mean Tahoe's for the command staff. It was Rovella that had the vision for STF which probably had the most impact on violent crime in Hartford over the last decade, and not just letting cops run around in jeans and football jerseys thinking that would have an impact.STF actually used investigations and real intelligence gathering to produce results, that is why it was copied in New Britain, New Haven and elsewhere. Rovella was behind the C4 camera operation that has proven huge benefits for the City. Pretty soon he will probably start accepting laterals to CSP and we will see then how many of you will follow him. I'm sure quite a few will.

  28. We will follow Chief Rovella. Good guy. Better Person. Cares about his men and women. Not like Thody
