FROM HPD: COMMUNITY HELP NEEDED IN OVERNIGHT SHOOTINGS

FROM HPD:

The Hartford Police Major Crimes Division is actively investigating two separate shootings that occurred in the North End of the city on September 22, 2017 and September 23, 2017.  The first shooting occurred in the area of 16 Durham Street at approximately 7:10 pm September 22, 2017.  One of the victims from 16 Durham Street was fatally wounded and the other was treated and released from Saint Francis Hospital. The surviving victim is not being completely cooperative at this time.

The second shooting occurred in the area of 1164 Albany Avenue at 12:38 am on September 23, 2017. Four people were shot during this incident. One of the four was fatally wounded, a second person has injuries that were described as “catastrophic”. He is currently listed in extremely critical condition. The doctors tending to him don’t expect him to survive. The two remaining victims are being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

In total six (6) persons were shot in the city between 7pm-1am  last night, two are deceased and one is listed as extremely critical. The Major Crimes detectives are talking to potential witnesses and attempting to locate any video surveillance in the area that may have captured the incident. We are going to need assistance from the community with respect to both of these shooting. We still need to identify potential witnesses that may have information related to either of these incidents. The area of 1164 Albany Avenue is heavy populated during the hour that this shooting occurred yet no one has come forward as of yet.  Any information we can get would be greatly appreciated.

No information related to any of the victims is being released at this time pending next of kin notification with family members.  Thanks in advance.

  2. It's sad that the Police has to beg the community for help. You would think that decent human beings wouldn't have to be asked to do the right thing.

  3. The albany ave scene looked like boyz in da hood. One guy still had his burner in his hand. A gang shootout. Plain and honest truth. No conditions units are starting reap the madness. The few troublemaking hartford residents all know that the cops have no contract and about 120 short. Not including the other 25 ish that are perminately assigned to Lite duty for life. It will get much worse if these bronin management style continues. Rovella introduced technology and good us killer body armor. More then the past chiefs. But its going to get more violent. Bronin thinks police and fire deserve to make less then 80k and library ceos with take home car and a p card to buy meals makes in excess of 165k a year. Board of ed employees making 160 k and use an atlanta Ga to dodge taxes. Hartford needs a restart button pushed very hard.

  5. Gang violence? Hartford has it! They got rid of conditions units & street crimes unit and look at what happens. I have been saying on this blog that crime in Hartford is out of control and with Luke in charge expect it to get worse thanks to his war on police. Also, anyone care to guess how many "good" samaritans came forward with information? Judging my this ad MCU took out I wanna say its somewhere near zero.

Bronin laid off Parker Memorial staff reduced hours at community centers but library staff making a killing this is karma and chickens coming home to roost this will only get worse Hartford will forever be cursed until people with Morals and Honor take over and to Hell with all the so called Black Leaders and Black Politicians and Black Church ministers who lie and rob from thier own people

  7. How can the community possibly help when they are the very ones providing a safe place for these shitbags to rest their heads and fill their belly’s in between criminal activity? And please don’t think that a neighbor who knows what’s going on is gonna drop a dime ,cause if they did these thugs would be out on bond in a day or two and exact revenge on “the snitch”. There’s no winning this war, you might as well take up Rev Al Sharpton’s offer to build a wall of fame honoring Hartford’s murdered gangbangers . Just take my advice and build it real high and long .

  8. This is what happens when first responders are purposely under funded. You all are to blame for not demanding adequate protection from Bronin and the Council. You reap what you sow.

  9. Guess it's time for another March Against Violence.
That's worked so well in the past!

  10. Residents need to work with Police. Familes and children doing the right thing are at risk. If you see or aware of something tell your officers. The HPD are safety providers. HPD need your tips.

  12. Bob, I agree with much of what you said, as I did earlier when we spoke, you are much more scholarly when it comes to issues of law, but I don't think our rights and freedoms are contingent on the degree of craziness of the President and there are checks and balances that will hopefully deal with the sanity issues, but I think the root of racism and oppression is when we start to accept different levels and degrees of acceptable freedoms based upon ones ethnicity, gender or any other class markers we may choose
