The simple fact that he later went on to explain himself in detail what he was trying to accomplish when he stated the “trigger happy” thing, proves that he’s a good officer that actually felt bad for saying it. I blame Rosado and Medina for Barone being in that position. They (Rosado/Medina) knew his history and put him out there with no leash to conquer the high crime areas and make gun arrests. Then as soon as sh%t hit the fan, they threw him to the wolves and deflected all the blame on Barone. This new administration is all about attacking Detectives and Patrol Officers, while at the same time protecting the higher up brass and allowing coverups and shenanigans to be undocumented and fall through the cracks. I understand that change is needed and nobody is perfect, but to stand up and tell officers and detectives that they will be held accountable like never before is laughable. Laughable when the same administration did nothing to the two sergeants who almost had a fist fight in Major Crimes while the new AC Medina, several detectives, and the so called Major Crimes Commander were there. The sergeant that was the aggressor and was heard yelling out profanities and antagonizing the other sergeant, is still currently supervising the homicide/robbery detectives and is a terrible supervisor. The other half of that incident (it takes two) was allowed to transfer to Internal Affairs, where he now investigates cops who probably didn’t do anything nearly as bad as he did.
We need to stick together and not allow these political appointees (Rosado/Medina) who didn’t earn the uniform they wear, to target just Officers and Detectives. YES, change is needed and officers need to be held accountable, BUT that goes for everyone who wears the badge, top to bottom or bottom to top. AC Thody earned his spot and I hope he sees through the BS before it’s too late. If the bottom continues to get no support from the top, then the top better be ready to work the streets.; September 8, 2018 at 11:23 AM

KEVIN BROOKMAN said...: 4;14PM that is not necessarily true. Termination is a possibility as the process moves forward. He will be afforded a hearing and then the hearing officer will make recommendations to the the Chief, up to and possibly including termination. The Chief is under no obligation to accept the hearing officer's recommendation for discipline and after the hearing if the Chief thinks termination is appropriate, he can do that. The entire process was in Barone's hands as of last week and he chose to turn down the Departments offer based on some advice that I don't think served him very well, and now he has opened himself to the very distinct possibility of eventual termination. Will a termination hold a Court challenge, maybe, or maybe not, but that is one hell of a gamble to take when this whole thing could be being put behind him at this point. It is hard to decide what to do without actually being in that situation, but there a lot of things to consider, including damaging the relationship between HPD and the Community overall; September 9, 2018 at 4:39 PM

After watching the full video Barone is clear to them after his back up had arrived that as he put it “mind f#%*ed them to control the situation. The PD is suffering with an extremely liberal left wing mayor that is anti police and will not support them. Bronin actually made the incident much worse with his rhetoric at the press conference. Even the demotion is way to harsh, but since Barone was on probation that is Rosado’s discretion to demote him. Any suspension on top of the demotion is way to harsh.
I do not blame Barone for fighting it, how he is being treated over this is completely inappropriate.

KEVIN BROOKMAN said...: I don't disagree with you, but it is easy for people to say "fight it" Its not them that will be without a paycheck or benefits for several years until the Courts resolve the situation. Ask Rob Murtha or Matt Secore how difficult the process is and I don't think either one of them had children or a family to worry about.
