I am also told by HFD Chief Reggie Freeman that the Hartford Fire Department Fire House lighting competition should be coming to life this weekend as decorative lights will be illuminated on Fire Houses across the City.
And a genuine thank you to0 all of our first responders who attended the Maple Avenue NRZ Christmas "Get-together ".
Both HFD and HPD have a great working relationship with the NRZ and last night showed that once again. The HFD Fire Cadets were extremely helpful carrying in the numerous donations collected for the Saint Augustine Food Bank, It is encouraging to see the future of HFD learning the importance of community service early on. Many HPD officers , CSO's and others also attended and interacted with community members who attended.
Chief Rosado and his son Esai , direct from hockey practice, worked the crowd and Assistant Chief Thody also attended accompanied by his new fiancee showing off her Christmas present weighing down her ring finger. (It is possible the engagement was moved along by comments made by Deputy Chief Buyak at Chief Thody's swearing in recently to make it official)
Congratulations to Chief Thody and Vicki.
And finally a sincere thank you to Hartford's version of the energizer bunny, my good friend Hyacinth Yennie. I don't know where she gets her energy from, but she never stops working to make her community a better place and seeing everyone coming together last night just shows her tireless and endless love for this City.
Last night is an example of why I choose to live in Hartford

How about a little commentary about retiring DC Joseph Buyak. You said "Hartford Show some Spirit". He's been doing that since 1983 when he came on the job.
This police officer showed what the best in Hartford was for 35 years. He led by example, didn't treat anyone at the PD or even most criminals in a bad way. The department has lost one good cop, one fantastic leader and someone who was respected by all.

Yes, from the outside looking in he’s absolutely wonderful. For those of us that worked with him and were subject of his targeting if he didn’t like you, not so wonderful. Definitely not liked and respected by all as Chris Lyons would lead you to believe. When your in that line of work for so long you become extremely crusty. But a long career and a deserved retirement.

But do all these chances help or hurt the person?? They are both out of touch with reality because in the real world without connections you don't get that many chances. I worked the downtown special when veteran officers Ragno An Otto Dowd were dispatched to Black Eyed Sally's on a public disturbance complaint. Thody put his hands on a officer doing his job trying to break up a fight and Otto was gonna split him until Ragno grabbed him an informed him it was the LT. Thody was demoted for the incident and then he got his bars back. Myself and my partner that night were never interviewed by Internal Affairs because they knew we were gonna tell the truth. I have no respect AC Thody that man has no integrity he's spoiled and entitled and the PD has babied him his entire career

Wow such hostility. First of all I will remain anonymous because of the shit heads that vomit their emotions and personal vendettas. 1. Joe Buyak was a classmate of mine, I was there to support him when a third party bullshit complaint almost ruined his career. Joe has always done his best and if you were a target of his supervision then you were more than likely a slacker. Congrats on a successful career Joe and thank you for your service to the Hartford Community. 2. If you have a problem with Lyons you are either a criminal, gang banger or jealous of Lyons' knowledge of how to manage criminals. Someone mentioned how retirees think that the next generation is not as good. Isn't that true? Gangbangers today do what they want, take a walk in the gang infested areas and you know what I mean. We didn't allow them to rule the streets. Today its hands off for fear of media coverage. The fire department has apparently lost over 220 experienced firefighters, officers and investigators in the past three years. This is unprecedented. Hartford is full of jack wagons ( starting with the politicians and certain union heads). Hartford has enough issues, we don't need "Anonymous" to be venomous against our own because you had a personal issue. You want to be venomous? call out the politicians that continue to play games with the lives within our community. Hands off approach to criminal activity because of the media and lack of knowledge/experience within the fire department is a dangerous game.
