REPUBLICAN DEPUTY REGISTRAR OF VOTERS PASSES

Hartford's Republican Deputy Registrar of Voters Alice Jenkins passed away last night at Saint Francis Hospital. Jenkins apparently suffered a heart attack on Saturday.

Jenkins had announced her plans to accept early retirement from the City last week.

No arrangements have been announced yet.

Very sorry to hear about Alice. She was always a pleasant and friendly person to deal with. The last time I saw her was a year or two ago when I attempted to change my registration from R to D. She was adamant that I don't, and her friendly/pleasant persuasion won the day. (That, and the fact that I hadn't arranged for the change soon enough to vote in the primaries that year.) RIP

Alice was a wonderful lady. Regardless of your party status, if you needed her help she was happy to give it. She was a bright spot in City Hall and she will be truly missed.
