YOU WON'T SEE THIS ON "CSI"

Members of Hartford's version of "CSI" , the Hartford Police Evidentiary Services Division, found themselves in an unusual predicament today. The names of those involved are being withheld to protect the innocent, or more accurately to protect them from harsh jokes and criticism.

It seems that the ESD officers were called to the scene of an unfortunate incident that took place today at Hartford Hospital. Upon their arrival, they found it necessary to attempt to gather evidence from the rooftop of the parking garage at the hospital. Everything went well in their quest and they drove their SUV police vehicle to the roof top of the parking garage at 85 Seymour Street.

The ride up in the SUV was uneventful, they performed their tasks and began to leave. Then the problems began. Apparently the angles and the construction of the garage gave them clearance to get up, but the angle on the way down caused them to get stuck with the height of the lightbar and they could not exit the garage.

The lightbar was not easily detachable and requests for wrenches went unanswered. Finally someone creative figured to let air out of the vehicle's tires to lower the height of the SUV enough for the lightbar to clear. That worked and the ESD Officers were on their way.

My requests for pictures of the ESD Officer in question putting air back into the tires were respectfully refused.

The morale is begining to grow very slowly again. I hope it continues and some of these 'good ole boys' power hungry guys get put in their place. Everone has a pretty clean slate now, but im sure the new chief will not tolerate grade school antics.

The ESD unit actually does a great job here. That unit is quick and has hard workers in it. I had a scene the other day, they showed up really quick. They should make a show with them like CSI Miami. That Det. Gorr is a looker, and could be the leading man. Koz n candy are cool too.....

Agreed. Although I'd not mind it a bit if you were to post something to do with the present budgetary activities. Then I could report how I saw some of the Ted Carroll-led proceedings wherein our municipal government guys, complete with department leaders in attendance, were considering what to do about the projected $50million dollar hole in next year's budget. First thing that strikes me is that it's a bit weird for a strong Mayor to submit to this public display of outsourcing of his fundamental duty to an outside consultant. Second thing that struck me, again after seeing only bits, was that there was no discussion of the possibility that a lot of the stuff we spend $550million on every bloody year is unnecessary, unproductive, and unwanted except by the well-paid and well-benefitted crats from the bureaus.
As to cops, I thank them for their work, and although I have been mildly abused by them on occasion I would compare their professionalism favorably to that of the Newington cops that recently gave me a ticket for "simple trespass." By the time Officer 2595 and his Barney Fife got done with their self-important law enforcement performance the trespass had become a lot more complicated. If they were to show up at a suicide attempt at Hartford Hospital the guy/gal would jump just to avoid further dealings with such idiots.

The budget will never get fixed. Taxes have only one way to go, up! So if some fine citizen or upset city employee wants to vent on this here blog, then who are you to make the rules.

The simple idea would have been to simply back out the way they came in. Angles do not change.
