DOES INTEGRITY MATTER AND FOR HOW LONG?

The comment below was emailed earlier claiming to be from another Mayoral candidate. I don't trust that the name used was legit so I am not posting the name though. I do want to hear your thoughts though. One of the things that concerned me about the Touch of Class posting was the age of the offense. But the more I thought about it and the more I spoke to other people, I was convinced that integrity and character matter for a person today, yesterday and yes , even from 1989. And at the very least, don't we have the right to know what type of person we elect and don't they have an obligation to address our concerns.

Here is the comment posted earlier, minus the posters name as they claimed.

1989? really? You're that desperate that you'll stoop to this?

My campaign doesn't care about what the Mayor might've done in 1989, and quite honestly I don't think the residents of Hartford do either.

I think it is an attempt to deflect attention away from Pedro Segarra, Let me know what you think.

Keep in mind we have just gone through the Catholic Churches pedophile priest scandal and I don't recall anyone saying we shouldn't discipline child abusing priests because their crimes were committed 20 or 30 years ago

Someone that is willing to ignore oaths they take as an attorney or a prosecutor in 1989 will most likely do the same today . The truth is the same in 1950 , 1989 or today.

I'll go back to a Mark Twain quote Segarra seems to be fond of "If you always tell the truth, you never have to remember the lies". So let's see if he remembers the truth.

And I think whoever wrote that comment, I think you are drastically underestimating the people of Hartford. We do care about the truth no matter its age.

Yes it matters,he was not a kid, who made a mistake, he was a grown adult, with adult responsibilities and unfortunately accountability. Seggara was at that time responsible for prosecuting those who broke the Laws, yet he made an adult decision to break the Law.

So yes I care, I am also sure that this wasn't his first time at the Touch of Class or brush with the Law. He made a conscience decision and now must answer and pay for that decision.

I will not vote for him, not only because of this, but based on the decisions he has made and not made as Mayor.

Have you ever patronized a hooker or picked up or attempted to pick up someone anyone of any gender late at night in a bar purely for purposes of sexual gratification? Yes or no, Mr Brookman.

KEVIN BROOKMAN said...

let's stick to pertinent questions, prostitution is the illegal issue and No, I have never patronized a prostitute

Kevin, notice Pedro's team of blog watchers and permitted to comment, are NOT denying Pedro's illegal conduct, they are trying to explain it away based on time.

I think the time is more prevalent, Pedro was a Prosecuting Prostitutes, Pimps and Johns at this time, yet he himself was anyone these criminals.

This is typical Pedro; "Do as I say, not as I do". Sorry Pedro & Maribel LA Looser, IT MATTERS, IT'S PERTINENT, IT ILLEGAL AND MOST OF ALL IT IS INDICATIVE OF "Pedro Seggara".

Obviously he wasn't a shame, he signed his name, is he that stupid or that arrogant? Neither are Mayoral or decent.

FOR HOW LONG?
---------------------
When Chris Shays was considering the impeachment of Bill Klinton he took a look at evidence made available relating to Juanita Broaddrick's accusation that Bill Klinton raped her. Shays' problem was not that the accusation was old. It was not that he didn't believe her accusation. In the end Shays voted no on impeachment despite his belief that Klinton committed rape.
-------------
"Do you personally believe our president is a rapist?"

"I would like not to say it that way. But the bottom line is that I believe that he did rape Broaddrick."

Mr. Brookman is not on trial here. It's Mr. Segarra who should be on trial, therefore the last sentence in your statement should be corrected to:
Yes or no, Mr. Segarra.

Not only prostitution is illegal, but we have to look at the candidate's character, his miserable performance so far, his apologies, his lies, his behavior, if his's on drugs or alcohol as some suggest, who's really running the city and much more

Anonymous said...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Soliciting, Prostitution and paying for sex illegal in 1989? Isn't it still illegal?

Politicians during vetting, get asked these things from their past and it gets reported and it matters. Bring anyone of power forward from the city or state and have them on the record say, Pedro was up front about this when he was seeking public office , from Corporation Counsel, to Council, to Council President and when he wanted Mayor.
Pedro had plenty of opportunities to come clean about this and the other issues that will come out, like his sudden departure from Corp Counsel and the State.

Don't judge if you can't be judged. Don't enter Politics if you have secrets, you don't want exposed.

Speaking of don't judge if you can't be judged, I guess this is the end of Pedro's expected future appointment as a judge.

Pedro has no credibility. He is a very angry person. He will smile if you agree with him. However, disagree with him and a soar face will appear and then he will walk away. He also lied. He said that he would never seek re-election after Eddies Perez resigned and that he would just fill in for the rest of his term. Really Pedro...this will be your second time you run...but guess what Hartford residents do not want to re-elect YOU. You have NO support.

Don't dare call him on violating rules with his actions and request , he will let you know your faith, if you don't get it done or you call him on it.

Pedro operates and leads with threats, phony smiles and fake alliances.

Loyalty & ,honor matter,, just as much as integrity and you have none of these qualities. You didn't have them in 1989 and you don't have them now!

Everyone one knows that Charlie Ortiz, Pedro's husband is running the City. Ask around, the stories surrounding this dude are horrendous.

Oh what goes on behind the big black gate....

Facing reality is not what Pedro does well. He lives in a fantacy world. Making fast and bad decisions is what Pedro is known for doing. He got the city taxpayers in another mess. The proposed stadium is a joke. He will be long gone and the taxpayers are going to be in big
debit. Hartford has spoken Pedro you must go.

Integrity matters. We have a problem here in Hartford; our municipal government seems to lack it. Whether Pedro is particularly lacking is hard to say because the incompetence is so glaring. I'll agree that he's no more corrupt than our last Strong Mayor.

Whether he used or whether he presently uses prostitutes is a valid question, but not dispositive. And, I agree with Mr. Brookman, candor about his willingnes or ability to obey the law should also be considered. Take them into account as you decide who should have the job. I'll go you one step further. Just because the State did away with its sodomy law around 1970, and just because we now are forced to accept gay marriage as a "civil right," doesn't make homosexuality any less morally repugnant according to both Jewish and Christian law. In considering the qualifications of a candidate it's not impertinent to consider his respect for the traditions of western civilization.

Isn't it time for the Courant, WFSB & NBCConnecticut to wake up and start investigating & reporting about the Touch of Classgate? Who exactly are they serving? They tell us some idiotic stories, but repeatedly neglect or refuse to deal with important issues. Shame on this media. The Courant editor should be fired. WFSB has like 5 weatherman, interrupting the news every 2-3 minutes. Enough already with this trashy, irresponsible media. Wake up!

Anonymous said...

WFSB news is not real news, there's nothing serious there. They've known the Touch of Class story for quiet some time now. Some personnel at the station read this blog. They don't have balls to report it, or something is going on there between them and Segarra.

Anonymous said...

The proposed stadium is a joke at a cost of $4,000,000 a year to be paid for by Hartford taxpayers. Pedro knows it, he created this monster. PEDRO YOU MUST GO.

Anonymous said...

You are right, we cannot rely on the Courant and the TV stations you mentioned and others as well, otherwise where are their stories? These are just unreliable source of information or maybe they have their own agenda and will not report this story, no matter what. It's not going to be long before the public tells them to f--k off, then they could blame no one for their failures but themselves

Anonymous said...

Boycott the Courant. Skip WFSB, they call themselves CT leading TV station. What a joke.

Anonymous said...

Touch of Classgate, sounds good to me.

The media in the Hartford area failed us miserably long time ago. Nobody takes them seriously anymore. Just have to ignore them like they don't exist.

Anonymous said...

If you worry so much about what Pedro did that long ago, you should look into what those with bugles have done at work. Soliciting on city computers.

KEVIN BROOKMAN said...

how many bugles? feel free to contact me with any more direction available

Anonymous said...

Of course Hartford taxpayers will pay for the ballpark. If not Hartford taxpayers, who else?

Anonymous said...

Are Adult dating sites illegal on city computers.

KEVIN BROOKMAN said...

I thought the city used software to prevent access to adult sites, I also thought they were capable of tracking anyone that attempted to download porn through City severs. Most corporations do

Anonymous said...

Not the High-UPS just the workers.

Chiefs can do what they please.

Anonymous said...

Look at our hero "FORD" 5 days? REALLY?

Anonymous said...

Oh Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, you are about to open a can of worms. I work at City Hall, yes they do block most sites, but there are many ways to go around that. Some employees were found with porn in their PCs and nothing happened. Just do this exercise. Randomly select 10 employees from each Department and request their web history for the last 60 days. Tell us what you find. It would xmas all over again

One chief had more porn than work.
