LEADERSHIP REQUIRES ACCOUNTABILITY

SEGARRA- "What do I do now, I'm confused"

No, let me rephrase that, leadership DEMANDS accountability. It needs to be demanded by the leader of both himself as well as the people they place around themselves. This was no more obvious than on tonight's NBC Connecticut interview of Pedro Segarra regarding his bad information he was slinging at Luke Bronin.  Segarra issued a release yesterday with allegations that Bronin was not a consistent voter in Hartford's Municipal elections. Those charges were untrue and quickly proven false by local and State voting record.

You would think some sort of apology would be forthcoming, but no, in true Segarra fashion , his explanation on camera was that a "staff person"  had screwed up by relying on bad information.  No Pedro, you screwed up by relying on bad information from a staff person. At the end of the day, you are at the top of the ladder and it is your fault. That is called LEADERSHIP. I know you have found that it is much easier to throw people under the bus and ignore any accountability, but in the end Hartford deserves some leadership.

But not to beat a dead horse here, but some leadership and accountability might have saved some major problems in the Hartford Fire Department from happening. A strong tone set for what you expected from your Fire Chief and Fire Department might have quite possibly saved a lot of embarrassment as well as a life. Your Chief was warned of dangerous activities by firefighters at the very same house where a firefighter lost his life caused by the same activities the Lieutenant wrote and warned Chief Huertas about. Apparently to this day, nothing has been done or changed. That is not leadership

I guess we shouldn't be surprised Pedro when nothing changes with you. I half expected to hear a lame "I'm sorry , I made a mistake by calling Bronin out. I was wrong" That's what men, or even more importantly LEADERS do. What did you do when your spokesperson sent out the release with  a date from a year ago for your State of the City Address? And then it took her over 24 hours to send out the correction. I'm sure in true Segarra fashion you did nothing, In fact it was probably a joke around the office the next day "Guess what that crazy Maribel did now" ha, ha,ha

This is not the way to run a City. We deserve so much more from our LEADERS.

Pedro, look in the mirror tonight after you finish telling yourself how wonderful you are and repeat these words " I am sorry Luke, I screwed up". It probably won't be as difficult as you think and you will have taken the first step down the path of leadership. Try it , you might actually find you like it

No way, not a shadow of leadership from Pedro.

Crazy Maribel and Hilda (reminder: Hilda in her biography listed as her interests eating tacos and reading obituaries).
Crazy, stupid and unqualified. Chosen to their jobs by clueless Segarra.

Pedro are you saying a
city staff person is working for your campaign getting paid by the taxpayer?

leadership and accountability, 2 words never used in the same sentence when talking about Pedro Segarra unless of course he is talking about himself

Mayor caviar is desperate, next he will accuse Bronin of having 2 left hands.

Let Pedro Caviar talk about himself to himself.

Ironically when Pedro took over for the arrogant thug Perez everyone hailed him as the greatest thing since sliced bread. The same will happen whenever the sheeps elect a new mayor. The public should know that under this strong mayor government (courtesy of Alan Taylor) power corrupts. The next mayor will be no different mark my words.

In the Mayor's 3/21/2015 Parking Ban announcement, the third sentence in the second paragraph reads ... "We are airing (sic) on the side of caution." One would think that the Mayor or one of the the two "journalists" who publish these announcements would know how to spell erring. I'll bet, until now, none knows how to pronounce erring.

Hartford is a big mess. Pedro Seggara is a disaster. Don't agree with his nonsense he gives you the look of death. One thing about Eddie Perez he would always listen. Although Matt Hennasay was a very bad influence. He was not a kind person. It was a terrible combination. However, Seggara and his crew are just out of control. His turnover of of Chief of Staffs, Saundra Kee Borges and his entire administration are a flock of followers. They all deserve each other.

As further evidence of Pedro's incompetence and machinations, note how Pedro and his flacks consistently call for the removal of the "three registrars" to solve the problems that caused the 2014 election.

This is an attempt to deflect attention away from the fact that Democrat Olga Vasquez was disproportionately responsible for the worst problems on election day 2014 and Pedro knew, well before the 2014 election, that she was a problematic public official.

People with knowledge (including some good people at the clerk's office, if they will be permitted to be honest) will tell you that Hartford can fix the problems with the registrar's office by replacing Olga only. The fact that Pedro can't use skills of persuasion to replace someone from his own party who works in his City Hall reveals what a joke he is as a "strong mayor."

The Allan Taylor comment is interesting. When is anyone at the Courant (Jenna Carlesso, maybe? Vanessa de la Torre?) going to report on the Tom Murphy letter you reported in this post?:

http://wethepeoplehartford.blogspot.com/2015/02/is-it-time-for-more-more-incompetence.html

If Taylor's hopelessly conflicted "opinion" on his own work gets a full and breathless report from the Courant, the Murphy letter destroying it should get equal coverage.

Basic investigation from public sources will reveal that the City (including people directly connected with these impeachment proceedings) knew well before the registrar impeachment proceedings even started that the City's authority to remove elected officials was very shaky.

Who knows if the Bronin thing will get across the finish line, but it sure is nice to see someone who won't let Pedro and his buddies hide from their incompetence.

Thanks also to you, Kevin, for shining a light on all this mess.

Alan Taylor may have promoted it, but the electorate voted for the strong mayor charter. No reason we can't go back. Strong Mayor not necessarily corrupt or incompetent, but I'd rather have an appointed city manager with primary administrative duty. A longtime Hartford resident who I respect, says he prefers the current arrangement because of the accountability factor. I don't understand the argument, but there may be something to it.

Just because Pedro is incompetent, has no character and first and foremost cares about himself and his cronies, doesn't mean that the strong mayor government is wrong. Give Bronin a chance, he'll bring the right people to run the dept.'s professionally. We must give him a chance. Pedro is a disaster, he got to be out of office. The sooner the better.

Dear Mr, Henri Alexander,

YOU, Mr. Alexander should be investigated as well! You are as corrupt as Saundra Kee Borges, aka SKB.
How did SKB get herself this "engagement"? Did the 2 of you meet on Saturday, January 31st at 550 Main street? Did she promise you her $178,000 salary in exchange for this "engagement"? What's Segarra part in this new scandal?

Don't worry Henri, all this will be investigated soon.

How the heck can that Maribel be paid so much to do so little? If she was paid half of what she was making it would still be too much.

Things are really bad with Pedro Caviar that he fired his campaign manager and hired a new manager who operates out of Washington DC and worked on campaigns in Oregon and Texas.
Translation: Pedro Caviar is in a bad shape, will do anything to win this election, that he goes to DC to hire a new campaign manager. Can't get one in the Hartford area or the entire state of CT. Got to go to Washington DC. Things are going bad.

Will someone send a link to this blog to Michael Beckendorf, Pedro new campaign manager.

Kevin

You said that the same things that Lt. Nolan warned Chief Huertas about were the same things that killed Kevin Bell. So you are saying that Nolan warned Huertas that Bell's officer was a coward that would leave him alone in a fire.

Anonymous said...

WHO WAS BELL'S OFFICER THAT LEFT HIM ALONE IN THE FIRE? NAME PLEASE, JUST HIS NAME.

Perhaps you should add that Saundra was not not in town Feb 10-17, she was Monclair, NJ attending her mother Edith Kee's funeral. And you should note that Maribel stated that she would be paid from February 1-March 31. Perhaps someone should look into SKB time sheet for first 3 weeks. It seems that they are very well train by SKB, on how to milk the system without being penalize.
