THURSDAY ON THE BLOG, A PREVIEW

Is the leadership at the Hartford Fire Department as bad as we have been hearing? According to e-mails obtained by "We the People" the answer is probably yes, and quite possibly worse.

Read it here tomorrow and draw your own conclusions.

Kevin, I don't even need to see the emails, I have been posting for well over a year how Charlie is an uneducated simpleton. The man is as dumb as a pile of rocks. What?..does this offend people "from" Hartford...too bad the man is feeble minded. The problem is that most of the people in Hartford and many on the HFD are simply too stupid and apathetic to realize whats going on. Huertas is as weak as the day is long.

A little off subject, but could someone please tell me what our EAP person does all day? She is supposed to oversee the departments physicals. Why are guys getting sent home mid shift due to late or no physicals?
Mark Horan always notified us when we were coming up on our due date for FD physicals, giving us time to get an appointment. Except for the usual sh$tbags, everyone was in compliance.
The last EAP person was a flop, fax machine not working for months and nobody notices. Then when it's found broken, it's the line firefighters fault, not EAP's.
Hey Chief, how about putting Shelley back on the line, she is NOT doing her job. Of course you'll blame us as usual. Situational Awareness, right?
You don't have the cajones to discipline/ transfer her. Keep sending us home sick, that will fix everything. You are the greatest creator of overtime this department has ever had!
Do you realize that most of us enjoy being told not to come to work? You have screwed the job up so much you are doing us a favor by suspending with pay, told to go home sick, etc. The best part is working numerous OT's when we come back to work! OWESIES BABY!

Hey 8:19 AM did you report your concern to the chain of command?

KEVIN BROOKMAN said...

Why report anything to the "Chain of Command"? So they can end up like Chief Nolan?

Kevin DN did not make a stink when he was told to push through people training he felt were not qualified. Where was his concern for the safety of FF's and the community.

Are you a fool? That is exactly why he was removed the first time, because he refused to push politically connected recruits through the academy

CORRECTION:

I stated yesterday that there is no statute protecting a Fire Chief from termination, as there is to protect a Police Chief. Apparently the CT laws were changed recently to also protect a Fire Chief from political terminations. Terminations must be for just cause

Kevin, when you say terminations must be for just cause, would incompetence be considered as a reason to fire the chief?

KEVIN BROOKMAN said...

I would think so, but keep reading today and I don't think "just cause" is going to be an issue

KEVIN BROOKMAN said...

Actually let me be fair, keep reading and watch NBC Connecticut at 6PM for the full story. Gross negligience might be more appropriate than incompetence

Sorry Charlie, "The truth will set you free"

Cover ups are rampant in every aspect of city or state departments and agencies and have always been. History has proven that over and over. A person like Dan Nolan who challenges authority are rear.

Why should EAP have to tell people when their physicals are due? It's all on every computer to find. Also if you've had one on the form your doctor puts whether you need one in 1,2, or 3 yrs. Is it that hard to remember. People can put whatever the want in their I phones and E-mails but they can't be responsible for their own physicals. If you are a Captain and you can't get within 200 days of your phisical you should be demoted. Further more all people who are sent home for physicals should have to work as many free shifts as are needed to cover them.

The administration, and the union are the ones who designated EAP to be in charge of department physicals. The person who volunteered to go to the EAP office should have known what the job involved. Instead it was taken to get off the line, get a city vehicle, get holidays and nights off, and milk the city for OT hours that can't be questioned due to everything with EAP being confidential.
Stop covering for people who are not doing there jobs, this is one of the major problems HFD has. Nice to hear from you B.C.

If anyone wants a city vehicle they don't have to be EAP, there's a spare sitting in front of the safety complex. I think it has a 5 on the plate.

Maybe if the Phoenix Society got their way we wouldn't Shelly, we'd have Lil' Niki.

Maybe we could make one of the 1st due Blue Hills officers EAP, they don't want to be FF's either.
