IT'S NOT JUST THE HARTFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY , IT IS A CITYWIDE PROBLEM

In a city that keeps claiming to be broke, the salaries paid are amazing, as well as the number of highly paid positions.

Here are the salaries for the Hartford Schools, stand by for the upcoming post for other City Hall and Department salaries.

This list I guess gives new meaning to the phrase we keep hearing, "doing more with less".

Also take a note of the "hometowns" and see how many of these checks go outside of Hartford, especially the one listing Atlanta, GA. ,Director of the Office of Institutional Advancement, $179,799, and what exactly does that have to do with educating children?

I guess maybe they don't want to put their kids in Hartford's Schools ,so they live out of town

Once again, like has always been said, it’s not police and fire salaries and pensions that have the city broke.....obviously. The school system, one of the worst I might add, exactly why Luke doesn’t send his kids to Hartford schools, is what’s breaking the bank. This is outrageous. Cut the schools and balance the budget.

All worth every penny. All with masters degrees and yet Hartford Schools continue to fail. Over paid fat cats in a financially broken city.
Im sure the bankruptcy Judge is gonna enjoy this list..........

I'm hoping a federal judge can do something about these salaries tbis is sickening and disgusting I wouldn't donate a dime to the city of hartford till this BS is fixed Luke you had the nerve to ask surrounding towns for money ????

Time To Put The Idea of "Regionalism" to bed!

Not too shabby for 10 month out of the year. Meanwhile the actual teachers who are doing the work are getting s*** on.

Firefighters run into burning buildings risking their life and are exposed to dangerous chemicals, working weekends and holidays and nights. Missing anniversaries, childrens birthdays and quality time with their families. Police officers risk their life at every call they respond to, in danger of getting shot or stabbed and also working nights , weekends, and holidays ,missing their kids games , school activities, birthdays and anniversaries. We don't sit behind a desk in a clean office ,we don't get credit cards to pay for meals and personal expenses like the folks at the library. We don't have a personal assistant like the council members. We earn our pensions through hard work and sleepless nights. While City Hall members are having Thanksgiving dinner with their families we are out in the street sacrificing our lifes. While City Hall employees are opening Christmas presents on Christmas morning Police could be in the middle of a shoot out or firefighters in a burning building. All risking our life for under $85,000 a year. Firefighters are stuck working In Rat infested buildings . Many times no Air conditioner in the summer because the city won't fix units when they break down or on occasions no heat in the winter.Police and Fire don't get to sit down and take an hour lunch break uninterrupted like 550 Main St does every day or Board of Education or The rest of the leeches at the Hartford Public Library, but according to Judge Killian we don't deserve to collect our pensions at early 50s and according to Luke Bronin Police and Fire Department pensions are the reason why the city is in financial crisis. Luke why don't you ever show up to the Fire Department Academy when we perform the fire demonstrations for the state politicians. Seems you always have an excuse for not showing up you piece of shit. Put on 75 pounds of gear and tools and see what it's like for us to go into a burning building with high temperatures and zero visibility or a police officer going into a dark alley chasing a convicted felon who might try to shoot or stab you without any backup nearby.I hope one day you are the victim so we can just drive by since we are not important.

9:38, I submit it's all about priorities. And somehow over the years (can't blame Bronin for this) the priorities got really screwed up. I'd like to see Bronin re-focus on safety (police / firemen) and education, and CUT all the overinflated salaries for all the superfluous positions in the City that aren't doing anything for the residents' quality of life.

I'm a firm believer in a Hartford bankruptcy to right old wrongs. Let's hope Bronin shows some leadership and does it - it may not be pretty to start, but in 5 years we'll have a healthier city. Finally.

It's not fair to say that Hartford schools are failing. This is the decades-old mistake. Hartford is filled (substantially) with children that come from home environments that are dysfunctional or barely functional. They are called "special needs" children. And while there are dedicated teachers doing their best, what the hell can you expect when generation after generation of learning disabilities flood into the school system. I was witness to this so long ago when I went from a catholic school to a public school. (I recently bought a coffee at a McDonald's and the server said, "hay, aren't you that guy from Burns School?" I felt bad for her because the best she could do after all these years was a job at McDonalds at her age.)

Then we hear parents scream that not enough money is being spent on schools. When you have a principal asking parents to sit with their child and read one hour per evening, you know you have a problem. The parents need remidial education. But no one would dare say what I just said. Sometimes, the truth begs to be expressed. And oftentimes, the truth hurts.

@9:38

I'll bet we could fire all the firefighters and higher Chinese firemen for one quarter the price. No, just kidding. Don't get a stick up your behind.

God bless u bro. Bronin will find out how big a loser he is when he is voted out of office. One hit wonder luke. It sucks that auntie clinton lost. And your daddy malloy is out to his 350k a year job at uconn. Opps. Was i suppose to spill those beans.....
The bankruptcy judge will handle everyone. I dont mind taking a pay cut to watch these library people and board of ed folks suffer. I will enjoy it.

Bronin lives in hartford yet he sends his kids to schools in another town ...what not send your kids to the fat cat hartford schools mr mayor?

Are hartford schools not good enough for the hartford mayors kids?

More money is need for the schools to make them super special. Pay them more money.

What is the deal with the employee using an atlanta Ga address? To avoid state tax since Ga has a lower rate ? Layers of the corrupt onion at the board of ed reveal themselves.
Look at all the high paid fancy surburbanites geting six figures to help teach the children of hartford how to succeed.

More money. Hartford needs more money.
Put an ad on craigs list.

Hartford needs more money to pay the board of ed employees.

I'M L@@KING AT THESE BIG, FAT SALARIES IN OUR BANKRUPT CITY. BANKRUPT MORALLY AND FINANCIALLY. IT'S OUTRAGEOUS.

The contract has been signed for the Hartford Superintendent of Hartford Public Schools. The elected HPS Board is out of control. They awarded a generous salary to the new HPS Superintendent. Then parents, teachers and the community become disappointed. Hartford ends up firing this person and taxpayers pay a big price. As usual nonsense is display by the HPS Board of Education and the cost is crazy.

Well, regionalism in this case might help: Many of these positions are duplicated in neighboring towns. If we had a regional school board, we'd have far fewer highly paid employees at the top--think one superintendent instead of five. Maybe that one person would be paid more, but their salary would be way, way less than the combined salaries of 4 or 5 local ones.

Regionalism would create immediate tax savings for every town in the area. But many families in the suburbs are afraid of integration and happily pay higher taxes to keep their children away from "those people."

who is david rosado and why is he going to be police chief?

Did you think maybe because chief Rovella is retiring???

Hartford Politics is everywhere. PTO/PTA"S, Hartford Board of Education, Hartford Public Library Board of Directors, Non-Union/Union status ect. Something has to give. Connecticut "Regionalism" is never going to happen. Former Hartford residents could care less about Hartford. Especially the folks who received a pension and benefits from City Hall.

Hartford residents/taxpayers have now been alerted to the over the top salaries the Superintendent Hartford Board of Education, CEO and Leadership Team of the Hartford Public Library, Hartford Department Heads and Mayor's cabinet and more are paid..... What is the next step? Hartford is broke.

I've got an idea for regionalistic financial support. Hey Luke, tell Dannel that every state that ran off with every multi-million , billion dollar company which made its fortune in CT must GIVE back to this taxed out Democract financial infrastructure it helped create. He listens to you, right?

Now, back to Hartford; let me start with a big fat kiss for Kevin. Your reporting is the single best eye opener into Hartford's uncomfortable realities. With your energy, you shine the light! Bless you Kevin! Thank you. You give me some bravery.

As far as I can tell, these bloated director positions are non-union, collect a pension and health benefits after FIVE years of SERViCE to the PEOPLE! All deserved due to lethal paper cuts! Yet the middle class public jobs are the problem with their measly benefits in contrast to theirs?! Give me a HOLY break!

This is CLASS POLITICS from within using PUBLIC money! Take a real look at it Luke... Class economics! Don't let all of Cecil's training assuage us peasants with deceptive rehtoric and deflection.

Your City will not be safe, its buildings will burn to the ground, its garbage will spread everywhere, its streets will flood from river, snow will choke its streets, its pavement will crumble, its buildings will fall apart, its traffic lights will stay unlit and then what will happen to its people then?

You need HPD, HFD and DPW !

You keep on going after the MIDDLE CLASS paying jobs as though there lies the waste and burden. The unnecessary UPPER CLASS paying jobs their benefits are the multi-million dollar burdens leeching our CITY bankrupt, morally and financially. What's the matter? Are you going to lose some friends by trimming the off the real financial fat?

Your demands to the MIDDLE CLASS employee unions will personally bankrupt them! Make some
demands where they belong with the unnecessarily salaried and compensated UPPER CLASS careerists leaders!

Do The Right Thing!

3 homicides within the last 16 hours with 7 shot in total. Where's Bronin? Where's Rovella? This is what happens when a city doesn't back their cops and go with a soft on crime approach. The street cops and patrolman will continue with the non proactive approach and I as for one will love to watch this third world city burn to the ground.

Hopefully, Hartford taxpayers will be satisfied soon because the word has circulated and citywide residents are rebelling.

9:44 am , Apparently your not aware that CT suburbs absorb a few students from inner cities . If you had friends or family who teach in the suburbs they would inform you (in confidence) that the their most disruptive, challenging, almost not teachable students are from the inner cities, this isn’t a generalization or their “version “ of the truth IT’S THE TRUTH ! Don’t be so naive , those of us in the suburbs don’t fear integration based on a students skin color or ethnicity,,we fear the lack of civility these students bring into “our” learning environment. Your inner city schools are awarded more money and have most everything that a suburban school has ,,,YOU KNOW WHATS MISSING??? PLEASE, SOMEONE TAKE OVER FROM HERE!

Couldn’t agree more. Luke doesn’t want proactive policing and locking up bad guys. He’d rather give these gun toting thugs second chances. He also would rather pay librarians six figure salaries as they sit safely surrounded by books. Meanwhile the cops and firefighters risk their lives daily for the lowest pay in comparison to surrounding towns. Bronin wants cops to retire with no health benefits and 80% of base salary along with pay reductions and higher health care costs......eat sh*% Luke. Meanwhile the men and women of HPD are responding to multiple victim shootings and homicides occurring in public on city streets. Zero support from administration and Bronin. Sit back and watch the show until there’s support for cops in Hartford.

The biggest joke the City of Hartford, Hartford 2000 and Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) have informed citywide meetings for residents. However, the city dose not implement or enforce the Municipal Codes. That is why Hartford is a dumping ground and the suburbs could care less. Hartford A Rising Star! GO HARTFORD! Hey, former nightmare Mayor Pedro Segarra and Charlie do you have season tickets for the Yard Goats? Maybe you can suggest another stadium for Hartford and fund the project with the money Charlie makes. Hartford A Rising Star! GO HARTFORD!

What I noticed is the majority of people on this list take the Hartford money and live in the suburbs.

Anonymous said...

At 3:20pm: Go Hartford! Just go.

What I noticed is the majority of people who are NOT on a list of people who abuse social services take money provided by those in the suburbs and live in Hartford . I’ll “KEEP IT REAL” can you ?

I googled that persons name. She works for a nonprofit based in GA. The nonprofit provides scholarships to students who excel. It's a nationwide nonprofit. I wonder how many people work for that nonprofit are getting paid salaries like that. Seems like it would be an awful lot of scholarship money being spent on salaries.

This salary list needs to go public to every state to shame The City of Hartford. This sickens me to no end. If a bankruptcy court system lets this continue then you know our courts are also corrupt.

Kozi said...

To anonymous at 9:44, you are 100% correct about the Hartford kids being the most disruptive....trust me I have inside info on this! Also, former councilman Shawn Wooden's kids did not go to Hartford Public Schools either. Hmmmmm

Anonymous said...

The person creating all these new made up positions hiring all these people at these large salaries should be held accountable. Seriously Marta Benton greets parents and helps them and makes close to $140,000 a year but the Parent liaisons at the school level make $38,000 a year. Something's wrong here! And how many Supervisors and Directors are really needed this is ridiculous! HOLD the Superintendent accountable!

Even with masters degree, they are still being overpaid. There are many PhD's and double master's that earn much less than these 960 Main St. administrators with mediocre resumes. Look at that whopping $180k with only a masters from Springfield College and with a few years of experience as middle school principal. He's not even a resident of CT! The same goes for the rest of the top 10 earners All average Joe's when it comes to credentials and experience.

Anonymous said...

Agree! We have been talking about corruption in the central office for a while now. Let this salary list go public and you will see that we pay the most to people with average resumes and no-credential required positions. Admin assistant/coordinator at $90k, welcome center director/greeter for $138k, food service director at $140k! Even hospitals' chief PhD nutritionists don't get that!
