HARTFORD POLICE PUBLIC COMPSTAT THURSDAY EVENING

The Hartford Police Department will be holding their June Compstat meeting at The 224 EcoSpace  at 224 Farmington Ave on Thursday, June 27th at 5:30 pm.

This is an effort to reach out to the Hartford community for all of us to better understand what the Department does for the community and what the community wants.
It is free and open to the public.

Be a part of the solution, learn how your Police Department operates and why they do the things they do. Hear the real numbers and facts, don't rely on community rumors.

Thody’s lack of street experience and violent crime reduction is very apparent, especially at times like this. He took no preventive measures when there was still snow on the ground. He dismantled the only units that were focused on violent crime. Not that it matters now because it’s way to late, but does he have any type of plan or strategy? Does anyone?

This is an easy fix that can be done to combat this violence. Active and aggressive police presence on
the street. Plainclothes officers hitting the corners, hotspots and using targeted arrests to put pressure on
constant criminal pests that are known to members of the department. Make the criminals afraid of the
consequences of their acts.

Most criminals are not afraid of marked units cause they can see their approach. Send officers out in unmarked vehicles
patrolling the streets. The crime occurring now is the fault of the crooks not anyone else.

Hit them hard with arrests and get them off the streets. Make them afraid to continue their criminal ways. Target violent
offenders and lock them up in a way that the public can see.

Support the Hartford Police. They do a tough job every day. Police work can be a thankless job at times
and very rewarding at the same time. Trust and support each other. Ever trust politicians. Ever.

Chris, I have a lot of respect for you. This is not an easy fix, times have changed. That would have maybe worked when you were a cop in the late 80’s, early 90’s, but not now. Officers can’t be “aggressive” anymore because not one politician has any of the officers back when even a minor complaint is made, criminals know this and take full advantage. The same could be said with the administration walking away from any incident that makes them look bad. When you were “aggressive”, Joe had your back and other working cops back, you know that.
Plain clothes along with uniformed officers making a presence known need to target hot spots and clear corners, which nobody does anymore (it’s to aggressive). Criminals are not afraid and you can’t “hit them hard”, you’ll get locked up or suspended. GA14, otherwise known as “nolle 14” does not aggressively prosecute cases and nolle or dismiss so many cases. Thanks to Gail and her super star Hightower there is a huge disconnect between the court and the PD. They treat officers like garbage.
Instilling fear in the thugs committing the violence takes time, it’s a sustained effort that requires cooperation between HPD, GA14, AUSA, FBI, DEA, State agencies. Criminal need to know if they commit a violent crime, chances are greater than not that they WILL get arrested AND prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law on the State side or Federal side if the arrest meets the criteria. Nobody is aggressively investigating all shootings. The state court has completely dropped the ball. Certain high ranking members of HPD do not play well with others. The criminals are now well aware of this and are taking full advantage of the situation that has desegregated over the course of several years. Thody may or may not be a good administrator, but he has zero experience with all these factors. His reply is, well shootings and violent crime is down in comparison to last year. That’s comical.
So no, this is NOT an easy fix nor is it a quick fix Chris. Be glad your long gone. Times have changed.

Hartford was recently rated as the second worst ran city in America. Under Jason Thody, Hartford PD easily compliments that being the worst ran police department in America.
