WHAT THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS USED TO BE

"ANONYMOUS" posted this "youtube" link from last year's Festival of Lights. This is what I'm sure many people expected when they made the trek to Hartford for the "New and Improved" Festival of Lights.

I'm not sure what STN2 is, but the video gives you an idea of what the Festival used to be before it was "tweaked" to a fake tree standing alone in the park. At least they can say they drastically cut the energy usage this year.

UPDATE: From what I can find on their website, STN2 seems to be a news network at the University of Hartford

Sorry to hear that the big shoe was inferior. Heard report confirmed by personal friends who drove in from burbs for the event.
Tell me, though, is it true that they used to put Mayor Mike in Santa suit, in a Chevro-sleigh, give him some egg nog, and lower him down from a glassy business box with a window-washing rig? Or is that a memory mis-fire on my part?
For those who complain about anti-Htfd. negativity, congrats to "The Whale" for getting 13,000+ fannies in the seat Sat. night.

Peter,

I don't think Mayor Mike ever played Santa, but he was always there to be Hartford's number 1 cheerleader. And don't leave John Bazzano out of the picture either. As Mayor Mike's Chief of Staff I doubt , no, I'll guarantee,he would have ever allowed Mayor Mike to be embarrassed as well as the City of Hartford, by such a lame production.

As for the Whale, no one has been honest enough to mention that of those 13,000 "ticket sales" over 7,000 were free tickets given away. Even people at City Hall today told me they still had free tickets they couldn't give away. So now when the real ticket sales take a nose dive people will see the attendance as a failure because they were given phony numbers up front.

I know, my negative side keeps coming out, but the smoke and mirrors only goes so far, let's start trying the truth so we can see some honest progress
