THE PERSISTENCE OF CALLOUS LEADERSHIP

Even though Kelvin Roldan and Pedro Zayas from the Hartford Board of Education apparently don't consider me a real Journalist. Doctor Aaron Lewis does. Dr. Lewis runs the Scribe Institute in Hartford and was instrumental in working with me to bring forward the story of an alleged  pedophile and  sexual predator Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Hartford.

Doctor Lewis saw the power and potential of my blog, and last night he sat down and started his own blog posting to help get his message out.

Here is a link to his first posting on the Scribe Institute's website. In this posting he lays out the details that  led to the allegations against the predator Super, Eddie Genao.

Excellent job Kevin. Dr. Lewis's outreach message to Hartford parents and guardians is outstanding. I have stated numerous times that HPS Central Office is corrupt. I agree the trio Superintendent, Chief of Staff and HPS Board of Education Chair should have been fired immediately. Protesting should be loud and clear. Fire the two Doctors and dismiss the Board Attorney Chair.

And not a word about this from Mayor Bronin.

A GREAT BIG DITTO FROM ME - a first for Richard Wareing having nothing to say. I am betting he will not be at the next BOE meeting. He probably will not see the event on his calendar. In November I was at a BOE meeting where an Asst. Supt. put stickers on students and Richard was the first to call for his resignation. Let's see if he will be tendering his resignation or insisting the Chief of Staff tender her resignation.

Why was the original story removed from the front page of your website ?

Oh I see - you have to look under older posts for the original article...can I suggest that you move the information about mandated reporters to older posts and keep the original Genao story on the front page. Believe me people are talking about this story.

By the way here is what happens when the Superintendent was a strong leader.

Now that it involves her boss Wareing what will she do? Do you hear the crickets?

Not that the Mayor has anything whatever to do with the Education Department of Accountability and Illiteracy, but perhaps he could suggest that in future there be no more stickers stuck to students in the Nutmeg schools.
Go Yardgoats!

From the accounts I read on Dr Lewis' site, he said The HPS Chief of Staff texted him that she "had time now and could she call"? It was so IMPORTANT to Dr Lewis that he said "i am in a meeting right now and call me back in 30 minutes". When a child is in danger, wouldn't the more appropriate response to those you were "meeting with" be I have to take a very important call, please excuse me for a few minutes. When he didn't hear from her after his meeting ended, he emailed the BOE chair. Emailed the keyword there. When a child is in danger, you pick up the phone, you don't send an email. I work in business and I know what it's like to get drowned in emails. I tell everyone I know and interact with, if it's important or an emergency, CALL! By his own admission, the Superintendent wasn't even made aware of it until the police came over on April 5 but yet he claims she exhibited "callous" leadership. there is a lot of blame gaming going on but ultimately the responsibility for this rests allegedly with Mr Genao. I would say to all others, when a child is in danger, call the authorities right away, they are the best people to know how to respond. Call others afterwards if needed.

So many things wrong with this situation.

Let’s be realistic: the subject and focus of this scenario is either a child predator/pedophile. Dr. Lewis was obligated to report what was happening, but he is supposed to report to either DCF or the police! I’m trying to understand why he felt it more urgent to report the matter to the predator’s employer…instead of going straight to the police? Why did he need approval or consensus from the Chief of Staff or Board President??? Furthermore, if it was as serious and urgent as he makes it sound, why TEXT? Why not CALL? We all know that text and email transmission facilitates delays in urgency and fosters miscommunication. It’s borderline informal and realistically, when in meetings and presentations, etc—texting is rude, and a distraction!! If you had her cell to text her, why not just call her? The COS has a secretary who is paid to support her. Had Dr. Lewis called and left a message, or continued to call to check in, he could have better detailed the situation highlighting its urgency. Emailing the Board Pres? Again, where was the urgency? Why not call??

As a mom, if I am having a situation with my child that involves someone interacting with my child inappropriately, and I confide in you for help and guidance, you better NOT text or email anyone on my behalf without calling FIRST. I could have done that (text/email) myself! So, now, unfortunately, Dr. Ngounou is the focus of the displacement of blame. I do agree that no matter what, she should have called in response to Dr. Lewis’ initial communication, no matter what—because of the message she received. I also want us to take a look at the fact that Mr. Wareing is quiet on this one…I’m sure I’ll sit back and watch “us” drag ourselves through the mud…

Let’s NOT lose sight of the focus here: Eddie Genao and his ways. With women, he knows no boundaries, and now we see it’s the same approach with children. He uses his former position as Asst Supe of the district to coerce, connive and control women. The buzz has been that several women have had an uncomfortable encounter with or hunch about Eddie at one time or another. Makes you wonder if there are other victims throughout his tenure that he has offended but haven’t spoken out. As a married man who brags about his daughter being on Broadway, he should be ashamed of himself!! It’s clear he has no heart, no conscious and no sense of remorse. He feels invincible and I’ve even overheard him say “I’m kind of a big shot!” I feel sorry for his family but he messed with the wrong child this time and deserves absolutely anything that comes his way! His resignation will also help the budget crisis… Trying to place blame on anyone BUT the predator will not.

The school system has been dysfunctional for years. This is what happens when you put individuals in leadership positions who are clearly not leaders. In addition, if you check their history you will find that they have little to no experience as a teacher. If you have little to no experience running a classroom room, then you have little to no business running a school, much less a school system.

This story is worthy of national news

If I was contacted by this girl's mother I would urge her to immediately call the police. Then I'd pick up the phone, call the DCF hot line followed by local police. But call the person's employer? And before all others? Poor judgement on Mr. Lewis' part and as an agency that works with children they should know better than to call an employer before calling authorities. It's unfair to blast BOE for Mr Lewis lack of judgement

Ironically the filter in the wifi I'm connected to blocked access to the Scribe Institutes Web site because it was identified as "pornographic"
