The problem is, there is no money. No one seems to understand this - especially, the BOE. There is simply no money. Kevin, do you want your taxes raised to pay to keep these places open?
I sympathize with your concern. But there. Is no money.
I am not sympathizing with anyone, just merely posting information . I fully understand the need for cuts, but they also need to make sense. Funding parades, festivals and rodeos while we close libraries? Really?
THE OPINIONS EXPRESSED ON THIS BLOG ARE STRICTLY THAT, MY OPINIONS.After getting fed up with the lack of openness in Hartford City Hall, I decided to begin a program on Hartford Public Access Television called "WE THE PEOPLE". Through tips received we have been able to expose numerous issues that the Perez Administration would prefer to keep quiet.

Library playing chicken with the city council? Losing THREE branches is extreme.
Remove some of the lazy, useless security guys at 500 Main St. This will save a chunk of money.
4:26 PM also ask the library maintenance people to stop stealing the toilet paper and other supplies from the library
Look around the libraries, there're lots of savings one can easily find
